I love the fact that I am always available to my family. I have less worries for my children because I can reach out to them at anytime. Disadvantages would be that there rarely is an escape from work or the world.

I take it from your question that you are on the negative side of the debate? So your looking for the negatives, correct?

To have credibility you need to quote facts from legitimate research, not what some yahoo here says. See below some links that I got from a quick yahoo search on the term "negative aspects of cell phones".

There are lots of obvious negatives to cell phones too. For example, cells phones are huge distraction to drivers. Many people holding a cell phone while driving, drive like they are drunk. I see it everyday commuting to work.

It's VERY rude to use a cell phone in a place like a restaurant, movie, school etc.. but people still do it.

Perhaps one defense you could use would be the cost. Compare the cost of living with a cell phone user and a non-user. Once you discover how much money a cell phone cost each year then you can compare the two. Thats a start I hope. Good Luck

PS- what did people do before cell phones?

One point could be how they take the place of in person
communication.
How they invade the quiet and privacy of those around them.
How they distract drivers and make them vulnerable to accidents.
How they can be obsessive to the point that you're not living
your life, just talking about it.
How the incredible convenience of instant communication
increases your mental work load in business as more and
more people know that they can get ahold of you 24-7.
The temptation of using them while you are walking the dog,
on a vacation, watching your child play sports, or any
activity you're supposed to be doing to relax and enjoy
real life. I just saw two people at the beach on a beautiful
day talking on their cells, and thought that they'de never
even remember why they were there in the first place.
