Hey Machine,

From what I can remember from my Christian upbringing, Christians don't believe that Mormonism is truthful based on a few things.

First Joseph Smith, the original prophet, had a pretty nefarious history prior to being hit by God.

Second, the book of Mormon was translated from golden plates which Joseph was given by an angel. The plates then mysteriously disappeared.

Third: Over the last few decades, Mormon beliefs have changed as God gives revelations to the head prophet. One that comes to mind is the use of Tobacco. Many Mormons chewed tobacco in the early days, until Brigham Young's wife got tired of cleaning up spittoons in the temple. Then God gave Brigham a revelation that Chewing and smoking tobacco was wrong.

Christians don't like anything that is added or subtracted to the Bible. I don't really understand that as the New Testament is an addition to the original bible, and there are many books from the era after Christ that weren't added as inspired books. Protestant Christians today, rely completely on Martin Luther's theses or they would all still be Catholic. Right?

Any book, teacher, or idea that directly contradicts is the Bible is considered heresy. I've read the book of Mormon, and it is full of things contradictory to Christian scripture.
We may disagree over details of doctrine, but to directly say things known to be against the Bible, well, that just can't fly. Not everyone who claims to know Christ really does. There has to be some agreement with the gospels, plain and simple.
That is why Christians don't accept Mormonism, Islam, or the Word of Faith movement.

Well, it all comes down to how a person defines a "Christian"

IF one defines it as a person believing in and following Jesus Christ: then YES, Mormons are very much Christian

IF one defines it as Christ and God the Father being the same person: then no, we are not that type of Christian

I have found that all Christians don't believe the same things as other Christians, but all Mormons believe the same things as other Mormons.

What is a tenet?? Anyways, I use to be a mormon and I am now a Christian, so i know the differance betwix the two. Mormons have paganism and freemasondry mixed up in their theology, you won't find a christian thinking they will evolve into a God, so its hard for a christian to except that Mormons are Christians. Also, Mormons don't allow women to pray for others in the church, or prophecy. Mormons have temples and Christians believe that we are the temple of God. Most Christians believe you must be saved to go to heaven, Mormons never get saved and except Jesus into their heart, so you cannot say you are a christian, you have family values and don't drink or smoke or take drugs, but you are not Christians, in the theology of a Christian belief. You don't believe in sex before marriage, but you are prejudice against blacks and have two levels of theology. One for those that went tot he temple and one for those that have not went to the temple. I was a depressed as a mormon, but now I am not suicidal anymore as a christian. There were so many mentally ill people in utah, Mormon country. My mom was depressed, my Dad is OCD, so am I and my brother is schizo. I can go on, but I won't...

All archeological evidence suggests the book of Mormon is a fraud.

A parallel between David Koresh and Joseph Smith exists. http://www.watchman.org/cults/prophets.htm

The Word says in Galatians 1:6-9 [Paul is giving a warning] :
I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ.
Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed. I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God's curse fall upon that person., "

That is why.

Well many of us believe that Mormonism is not from God. To me Mormonism is just a modern version of Islam only Islam isn't as racist. I view both as false religions from false prophets and both very misogynistic with their multiple wives ideology.

Most importantly, Mormonism added to God's one and only word The Bible with Joseph Smith's nonsense about God's word coming on Golden Plates, God having a wife and much more that is not scriptural.

Your question doesn't make sense because LDS (or Mormons) are Christians. Maybe you should direct the question to just Protestants, or something more specific.

edit- in response to your additional details, may I suggest you try this personal experiment. The next time you hear someone call a Christ-based faith "not christian" be it LDS, or Catholic or whatever, ask them what their exact definition of the word "Christian" is. I think you'll find the great range of answers and specifics very interesting.

Because followers of Christ believe that He is a member of the Trinity of God. The Father, The Son and, The Holy Ghost. Jesus is God in the flesh. Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus is the ultimate and only sacrifice that man needs in order to have their sin forgiven. We know that Jesus is now in Heaven with God and is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We accept no ordinary man to follow. We follow only Jesus. This is the definition of a Christian.

Thank God we don't, I have never supported a cult religion, and I do not plan to do so in the future, I converted to Catholicism 40 years ago and I do not plan to make any changes in what I believe in, unfortunately our world is littered with cult religions, and because of that, people are confused by all the interpretations that are thrown at them 24/7, all of them have simply become a money mongering machine, and there is not one religion out there that is exempt from it, and they all do it in the name of God it's simply a religious crime in my opinion.
