Having a baby affects all relationships, but it can bring you closer together or further apart depending on how the relationship was before you get pregnant.

A baby is NOT a good way to fix a relationship that's already in trouble. The pregnancy can cause resentment (man thinks woman did it on purpose to trap him; woman thinks man is unsupportive and doesn't love her), and if the relationship does fall apart then you still have to be attached forever through this child (who is forced to grow up with polarized parents).

But if the pregnancy wasn't intentional and the relationship isn't completely a disaster, having a baby can bemight bring two people back together who had started to drift apart, since the relationship problems might suddenly seem trivial compared to planning for this new life to come into the world.

Having a baby - especially the first baby - puts massive strains on even the best relationships. There must be a period of growth and learning how to care for the baby and care for each other before things settle down.

If a relationship is already in trouble having a baby will finish it off. And then you're stuck with a broken relationship and a new baby to take care of.

Don't do it.

With a relationship that's in trouble a child is not something you want add into the already shaky relationship. A child needs allot. Allot from both parents and it will put a strain on the relationship. if you two are fighting over matters between you two just imagine what you will be fighting over when the child is born. Trust me I know. Just handle your relationship right now and make that as solid as you can. The baby will need for both parents to exhibit love and respect for each other that can only be established over time.

Having a child can help or destroy. If the relationship is strong, it can help. If it is weak, it can destroy it. I have yet to see a situation where having a baby helps a bad relationship.

Well, dont go out and get pregnant to try to help a relationship by no means.
I hope thats not whats going on.
I think it depends on the strength of the relationship.
If a couple has a good marriage and have had "their" time, then its time to expand and yes, a child can add a joy that is incompariable.
However, if a relationship is bad, the stress of a child can make it worse.

Ewwww, what a disgusting question!!! A baby is not about a relationship!!! The way I see it is you should love the person you CHOSE to be with more than you love your children. The reasoning is that your kids are yours, and you love them naturally, no matter what, you don't pick your kids. But you CHOOSE the person you are going to spend your life with, so regardless of anything or anyone else, if your relation ship is rocky a baby will only make that situation more stressed. How fair is that to a baby that didn't ask to be born to save you??

If the relationship is already in trouble I think it will remain that way. One of you will be stuck at home caring for the baby while the other one is trying to escape. That is my guess....been there!

Not a good idea - kids are tough on a good releationship at time. Don't bring an innocent child into a troubled relationship hoping it will fix things.
