No. There are people who would have a positive frame of mind whether they were religious or not. There are people who would be negative no matter what. Some people are able to find a measure of peace through religion while others find it restrictive.
The real question should be "Can religion improve people? Can it make one kinder and more loving? Can it make one a better husband and father or wife and mother? Can it make one a better neighbor?" If religion can do this, then it is good for society.

Some people would lose hope. The belief that your consciousness is immortal and going to an eternal paradise after leaving your body behind is probably a source of great comfort. Sort of like Santa Claus.
As with all hypotheticals, it depends on how it happened. Did everybody suddenly become non-religious in one day, or does it happen gradually over the next hundred years? Is it the majority of people worldwide, or just in one place? China is officially atheist, with a relatively small percentage of people identifying with any religion. And the Chinese population hasn't all committed suicide, so apparently whatever loss of hope happened, it wasn't too bad.

You see, you need to realize that Religion does not a spiritual person make. I feel religion is for those who don't believe enough in their own belief systems and are totally in the dark about meeting their maker so they follow everyone else through the church doors. Those that are in the know about spirituality follow these simple rules. Live a good life. You will be fine. Nobody needs religion for that.

It's hard to tell; Some peole are religious and are not happy. As a matter of fact many jail inmates belive in God.
But in general I thinks people would loose hope, and you can't be happy without hope.

Religion doesn't have a lot to do with Jesus Christ. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. We can call upon His name and be saved. Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. If the church gets too traditional with too many demands and you don't have time for Jesus, then leave the church. Get in your closet and call upon the name of Jesus. Read His Word, the Holy Bible King James Version. You must have a relationship with Jesus, not the church and the church folks - Jesus first, then those folks.
God said He sends the rain upon the just and the unjust alike. The unbeliever can be happy, but always missing something in their life. That something they are missing is Jesus Christ.

Religion doesn't bring JOY!!!
That's something you get from God
Happiness comes from condition, but Joy comes from relation
So if you're religious or non-religious, if you don't know God you're gonna be hopeless either way!!!

Why would they lose hope? I don't understand that logic. They'd be much happier, I know I am.
