This is the beginning of separation anxiety, and if you know how to handle it, your pup will be OK. The key is to absolutely not ever, ever, ever make a fuss about coming and going. You will encourage your dog to get out of control by making a big fuss when you leave and when you come back. Instead, ignore the dog for 20 minutes before you leave, and for 20 minutes when you come back. This was the single best thing that I did for my new pup to help her with her S.A. She is crated and gets a stuffed Kong or Busy Buddy before I go, and many times, I'll even pretend to leave : pick up keys, put on coat + shoes, step outside the door.....and then come right back in again. The goal of this is to get an "Oh, you again" reaction from your dog. But keep doing this for your pup so that you can build up to coming and going, and it won't be a big deal for the pup.
I also play crate games with my pup whenever I think of it (link below) and if you feel that your dog is truly having trouble, try using D.A.P. - also linked. A Google search for "separation anxiety" will help you a lot. Good luck!

Leave the house but dont go too far... when you hear him start howling, rush back into the house stomping your feet and acting mad then squirt him with a squirt bottle, while saying "BE QUIET" then ignore him while you get ready to leave again. Then leave again, and again dont go too far, wait to see if he starts howling... if he does run back in the house and do the same thing. Eventually he will get the point and then before leaving the house you can say BE QUIET! and he should do as hes told. At least thats how I cured my 2 dogs of howling when I leave... now I say BE QUIET before I go and they know exactly what will happen if they arent.. they hate the squirt bottle and it works wonders.

PS I filmed my 2 dogs when I went to the store because I had thought I heard them howling when I left sure enough they sat on the couch looking out the window whining and howling. After I used the squirt bottle treatment.. I filmed them again and they didnt howl anymore... they still do sound like a pack of wolves when I come home but thats ok as long as they arent doing it when Im gone!

I also have a 10week old lab and I recently invested in a bark collar. She's beginning to learn that bark=ouch! It does take some time though. Leave this on when you leave, leaving the dog outside/in crate inside. This should work.
Trying to reason with a barking dog is useless. Bark collar or (when you're at home) a sharp tap on the head/nose followed by "No, bad dog" should stop them and keep the neighbors from complaining. Good Luck!

Leave something that smells like you with him. I've slept in an old tshirt and then left it in my dog's kennel. Sounds silly, I know, but it worked. Also, try to keep a schedule. This way your dog will get use to to leaving and knowing when you're coming home. Again, sounds silly but it works.

it is unhappy that you had to get him so youthful, yet you do what you ought to do. we've a Puggle (Pug / Beagle blend) which of direction ought to have the countless similar characteristics as a Beagle. I actually have some knowledge of what you're speaking about....merely no longer as undesirable. enable me see if i'd be functional finally. at first, have you ever had a authentic infant? even as they're first born, and for some months, they are going to shop you up at nighttime, call for your interest, cry about who's conscious of what, andchronic you loopy. that is what somewhat one does. A 7 week previous doggy (or 8 week previous, etc) is somewhat one. it truly is nice preparation for the destiny in case you have not had somewhat one :) a authentic infant will go away you exhausted too. also, he's in a sparkling surroundings and it is going to take time for him to regulate. It receives more effective as they become older....clone of with somewhat one. they are going to sleep longer and change into extra autonomous. yet they are going to nevertheless favor your interest. They nevertheless favor to be snuggled and performed with. there is no longer something incorrect with babying him....he's somewhat one. We infant ours. And certain they have separation themes, yet even as he receives somewhat older you could paintings on that. We take our Puggle with us everywhere we bypass. he's not in any respect left living house on my own. As for the howling and barking, merely tell him no everytime he does it, and then praise him even as he stops. he receives the concept finally. persistence and consistency are 2 issues it truly is really useful study even as your doggy is gaining knowledge of each and every thing else. Our doggy sleeps in a crate in our room. He wakes up in the course of the nighttime and that i take him potty. Then he wakes up back. i found if he sleeps with us that he will sleep ALL nighttime until eventually we awaken. He would not potty contained in the mattress or tear something up. yet....he change into 3 months previous in the previous we enable him sleep with us all nighttime. in the previous that we were apprehensive that he ought to potty on the mattress or get into issues. We began with assistance from letting him sleep with us even as he wakened early. it is been effective to get an finished nights sleep :) merely provide him a great number of love and interest. be affected human being and consistent. draw close in there. it will be nicely truthfully worth the wait :)

we always left a radio or tv on, so that our animals, (dogs, birds) would hear talking and hope fully feel that they weren't alone. we also alway left them something to play with, mainly toys, or something that they were allowed to tear up, and occupy their time..stuffed animals that make noise or even a ticking clock in their bed helps..
