We can't hardly ask a serious question about religion without a dozen atheists filling the board with "you're stupid" and "God is a fairy tale" and "it doesn't really matter cause it's all a big lie."

I understand you're trying to educate us, and I'm not saying you don't have a right to respond. But a respectful answer that deals with the question goes further than clever one-liner.

Also, I know you get tired of religious folks doing this to you, and I for one make an effort to give respectful answers. If we're all so tired of people doing it to us, why can't we take the high ground and stop doing it ourselves?

Comprehensive and challenging debate cannot happen until we get past recycled sound bites.

You all talk about love and morals...okay, then lets see some out of all sides? CeeCee

Cirque I would like to add to your request and maybe explain a bit.

I do not want to be educated either, other than in someone's opinion that is well thought out. It is no different from not wanting to be preached to that so many of the atheists say irritates them.

How we answer these questions tells a lot about the kind of people we are. So, if you want to be taken seriously and be respected then you have to present yourself that way.

This is not a good site for "challenging and comprehensive debate"... it's Yahoo, for crying out loud. This isn't like a message board where responses and communication can take place.

I understand your right to an opinion, but far be it from you to tell others how to post on an open forum.

We'll start posting constructive answers once all the religious trolls are gone.

Atheists give the vast majority of constructive answers here. You're targeting the wrong people. While many atheists do give those 'one-liners', many also make a sincere effort to answer the questions.

The believers, on the other hand, contribute almost nothing whatsoever. It is rare for one to give an honest or thoughtful answer, and almost every one seems to be here only to insult those who disagree with his or her beliefs.

The fact is that if you were to honestly characterize participation here, you would be forced to admit that R&S is made up largely of honest, intelligent atheists doing their best to interact with lying, childish, rude believers.

I always attempt to give constructive answers for benefit, but actual debate really can't happen in here. Debate has to occur where you can readily establish common points from which to launch your logical debate from and that cannot be done in this kind of venue sufficiently.

I Have been really trying hard not to do that but I keep getting Violation notices any time I ask intelligent Questions. I mean I have been trying hard not to Ridicule but when ever I ask a question that involves deep though I get a violation notice. So who's being immature?

I totally ignore people like that to the point I don't even see their answers anymore. I skip right over them and everything that is left IS good debate. You will never rid the world of the idiots, but you don't have to acknowledge them.

Why are you only saying atheists should give constructive answers. Don't you think theists should be held to the same standards atheists are? Just read all the hateful reponses to your question by your fellow theists.

Yes- and recycled sound bites include quoted scripture...

So you blame us for no challenging debates, because of our one liners?? Thats interesting....I was under the impression that one cannot have a challenging debate with anyone religious, as you people refuse to listen. We point out contradictions - you say we are taking it out of context. We demonstrate how your God cannot conceivably exist - and you point to scripture as evidence. WE make a statement that you cannot respond to, and we are called stupid or told we are going to Hell...

But its all our faults. WHATEVER!

Amen. I have never posted anything like, atheists don't know what there talking about, you will go to hell, Nothing like that but you see many people say He is imaginary, there is no God. Well if that is what you believe, good for you, you have made your choice, but just the same way me telling you God loves you and that we should love each other is not going to change your mind about Christianity, you telling me there is no God, will not make me an atheist. You go with what you know and I will go with what I know. But we can still respect each other and "break bread together", can't we?
