A daily brushing is needed here. If you have the time brush it twice a day especially if a long hair. Animals will shed more in the Spring and Fall don't forget. Excessive shedding or hair coming out in one spot needs to be address with your vet, it may indicate a medical problem Your vet can recommend a food that helps reduce shedding. Also feeding a cheap food can cause extra shedding. An indoor cat will shed all year and even more during Spring and Fall. A good high quality food will provide a good balance of minerals and vitamins. We bought a vitamin spray to put on our cats food and it seems to help. We bathe our long hair cat once a month, she loves her bath and blow dry. I have 13 cats to feed and one kitten, he's on kitten food.

Are you talking about normal shedding of cat hair or hair loss in patches on the body? They can be caused by different things. Sometimes it is a dietary allergy or just poor cat food in general.

You should really consult a vet about the problem unless it is just shedding and then you should investigate getting a better quality food for the cat.

Brush and put on a high quality food. Science Diet and Iams are NOT high quality!

Cats are obligate carnivores and do not need grains in their diet! Innova and Innova EVO are the best foods out there but are pricey. Look for a food that has 3 or more meat ingredients listed in the first 5 and ABSOLUTELY NO CORN! If you aren't going to feed grain-free, rice and barley are much better "fillers" for food. Godo luck!

I don't know what you are feeding your cat, but sometimes excessive shedding can be caused by poor nutrition. If you aren't feeding it a high quality food, you may want to try switching to Iams, Science Diet, or a similar food.

Try brushing it once a day, that should help. Sometimes you can find special foods with a shedding formula in them to promote a healthier coat as well.

Keep grooming it. The more it's brushed the less likely they'll shed
