Jerusalem is sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims but saying all that dose not give the right of all Jews and Muslims and Christians the right of ownership of the city. Jerusalem is a Palestinian city for the last 2000 years. There is an Israeli Jerusalem called western Jerusalem its new city.

In historical order:
Judaism recognizes Jersualem as both the capital of the united tribes of Israel as well as the holy city for there was built the Temple. Because of this it is the focus of the spiritual and messianic aspects of Judaism e.g. prayers are said facing Jerusalem and the temple mount where the temple stood and in the messianic age the temple will be rebuilt.
Christianity's origins hail to Jerusalem, as Jesus preached by the temple and was crucified and buried there. Today the Holy Sepulchre stand in Jerusalem for this reason.
In Muslim tradition Muhammad traveled from the Kaba in Mecca to Jerusalem and from there ascended to the afterlife to converse with Allah as well as various biblical characters. (He later returned). The al-Aqsa Mosque was built on this site.
Some places are just holy I guess

For the muslims it's the Al-Aqsa Mosque, for the Jews it's the Western Wall, and for the Christians it's because of Jesus!

History:
Archaeological findings indicate the existence of development within present-day Jerusalem as far back as the 4th millennium BCE,[15] but the earliest written records of the city come in the Execration Texts (c. 19th century BCE) and the Amarna letters (c. 14th century BCE).[16][17] According to Biblical accounts, the Jebusites, a Canaanite tribe, inhabited the area around the present-day city (under the name Jebus) until the late 11th century BCE. At that point (c. 1000s BCE), the Israelites, led by King David, captured the city, expanded it southward, established it as the capital of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah (the United Monarchy), and renamed it to its present-day name of Yerushalayim (Jerusalem)
Religious significance:
Jerusalem plays an important role in three major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as in a number of smaller religious groups. A large number of places have religious significance for these religions, among which the Temple Mount and its Western Wall for Jews, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Christians and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock for Muslims. Currently, there are 1204 synagogues, 158 churches and 73 mosques in Jerusalem.[43] There are also 70 mikvahs and 72 monasteries.
The great rabbis and scholars of the Mishna and Talmud instituted the policy that synagogues all over the world should be constructed in such a way that all prayers would be recited while facing Jerusalem, as that was where the ancient temple stood and that location was the only permissible place for the sacrificial offerings. Thus synagogues in Europe face south, synagogues in North America face east, synagogues in countries to the south of Israel, such as Yemen or South Africa, face north, and synagogues in countries to the east of Israel, such as India or Thailand, face west. Even when a Jew prays privately, he faces Jerusalem, as mandated by Jewish law in the Shulchan Aruch. In Jerusalem itself, he or she should face the direction of the Western Wall in the Old City, and when standing at the Western Wall, he or she turns slightly to the left to face the location of the Holy of Holies.

Because all 3 religions have history there. In case they haven't checked lately Israel isn't much to fight over and religion is far fetched and overrated, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Its holy for all but the old city was never part of the Zinost state.
The Israeli army in 1967 war occupied East Jerusalem.
According to international law east Jerusalem never was part of Israel.
1400 years ago the Moslems took over Jerusalem by a peace treaty which was singed by the head of the
Roman Church and the Moslem Leader called Omar Ibn Al Katab. The Romans Church demanded that: The protection of Christian Church, the protection of Christians pilgrimage to the holly cities Jerusalem and Bethlehem and Nazareth ". not to allow Jews to live in Holly city of Jerusalem."
The crusaders claimed that the Moslems violated the treaty by limiting the numbers of Pilgrims and allowing Christ killers to live in the old city of Jerusalem .
When the crusaders occupied Jerusalem they killed, more than 70000 Moslems and 5000 Jews, they were all beheaded.
Today the Christian World dose not recognize the old occupied city of Jerusalem as Part of the Zionist state. The Jewish World dose not recognize the occupied east Jerusalem as part of the Zionist state. The Moslem world dose not recognize the city of Jerusalem as part of the Zionist state.
Not one single country in the world recognize the occupied old eastern part of the old city of Jerusalem is part of the Zionist state. Why racist Zionists wanted to stand against all kind of moral and legal laws Jerusalem is a Palestinian city where Palestinian Christians and Moslems live in the city for the last 2000 years.Zionist lied to poor Jews about Jerusalem like they did to settlers in Gaza when they told them Gaza was part of the Zionist state.
