I'm submissive by nature and other than just coming right out and asking you if you have any authority, if there is an dominant bone in your body, if you intend to play at all to the sub in me, is there anything I can do (seriously now) to light a fire in you, to bring that alpha male to the surface? I'd like to feel this in your kiss, in the way you hold me, even in your voice, long before things become serious between us. Educate me. Enlighten me. Make me a smarter woman.

don't worry about the man... explore and play with your femininity...this will draw the male to you
if you keep drawing wussy's and betas, there is some inauthenticity about you and your willingness to be a femine woman....which once again just requires more playing more exploring ......
as far as doing something to get the male going....'doing' is alpha - it will lock YOU into alpha if you be that way about it and draw more betas.
i suspect you really want to be the alpha ( for some self preservation and control reason) and are just lying through your teeth about it.

Unfortunately, for the past couple of decades our social ideals, fueled by mass media, has pretty much castrated the modern male. For the past couple of generations we have been sold the idea that our more masculine nature is socially unacceptable. The end result is a generation of men who are generally more respectful of women and more in tune with the emotional side of our humanity. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, one of the side effects is a generation of men who are somewhat afraid to take charge for fear of being viewed as sexist pigs.
Additionally, because of the high divorce rate that began to escalate in the late 1970s as well as a general social acceptance of single mothers, we currently have a generation of men who have been raised in single parent households by women with very little in the way of real masculine role models to teach them what it is to truly be a good man.
As for how to overcome it, I don't really have an answer other than to find a man who is not afraid to be a man, but who understands the difference between being masculine and being an overbearing @ss. And, should you find him and eventually have a son, encourage them to have a healthy father son relationship.

You should not need to bring the man out in a male ... if you do ... he's obviously not for you ...
You are already a smarter woman ... as you don't feel the need to compete with a man for control, as you understand that we are different and should not occupy or fight for the same role.

Either they have it or they don't. If he fakes it you surely will sniff it out. So I would suggest looking for that type of man. If he makes that much of a change from submissive to dominant I would say he wasn't submissive to begin with. A lot of guys hide who they are deep inside.

Nothing you can do. If a guy is a submissive, he can't learn to be dominant.
It's instinctive. I take charge, but am respectful. Its like reading the playing field. I know when to go and when to stop by the reactions of my partner.

You can't make him do it he just has to be able to be that way. Most guys at first like to try to be Mr sensitive and all that putting on their best show for you. You kinda just have to meet one that is himself from the beginning. Guys are such Sissy's

There's just not a lot more one can do to brighten up the male population. By nature I guess, we're just not always at our best.

Some guys are not manly like you ask, some are more in touch with their feminie side than others.
I think if the guys love you, you will feel it in his kiss etc.
