I have already gone to MEPS to take my ASVAB and got a 50 or 60. My recruiter already has all my transcripts, my background check, my marriage cert, and all my documents. he is picking me up this Thursday to take me to MEPS at 4am, to take my physical and pick my job. Does this mean that I am pretty much in, or could I still be told I can't join for any reason.

Until you pass your physical and are on that bus to go to boot, you could still be disqualified.

You could even be IN boot, and do something REALLY bad and get summarily dismissed.

No, you haven't signed any paperwork. But the military is a sucubus, so you're probably in.

Think really hard if you want to live in an a s s backwards world totally different from civilian life where you are treated like a bad person if you have a brain, self worth or a purpose in life. If you have goals and aspirations, pursue them, don't make the military your only life line. People get sucked up into this life that have nothing better to fill their life with anymore because they never used their own brain to do something else with or ended up being broken down by the military to be a servant. 95% of the people don't have common sense and think they have the right to tell you how to be and who to be. The make dumb decisions and micromanage. You'll be tasked with meaningless things. Think very carefully if this is what you want. If you do this, be sure to stay yourself, don't let other people try to squish you like a bug for having more of a brain than they ever will (if you have one, I hope you do).

It sounds to me you are not sure if you really want to join or not. Do not go if you are not ready to go now. Why do I say this. Once you Dep in you are swearing in to keep yourself eligible for the Navy and you will not do anything to get you disqualified. At this point, the navy is starting to get things set up for you to go to boot camp and get your training dates set. If at the last minute you decide to drop out, all you did was take someone else job and there slot at boot camp. The military is set up just like a business and we only have so many slots for each job. Many people think that you can just join and do what ever you want, that is far from the truth. Now if you want to go into the Army or marines yes any one can go infantry. But if you are looking at a technical field there are only so many jobs in each slot period. Example if the navy has openings to hire 150 airtraffic controllers for 2007 the are not going to hire 750 just to get you to join. Then what would they do with all the extra people. This is the new military and it works much better than what you hear all the older generation talking about. Good Luck and it will be a great experience

The only thing standing in your way at this point is the physical exam. There are certain medical conditions that are a bar to enlisting in the Armed Forces (like a heart murmur, asthma, etc.) so as long as you don't have any condition that would interfere with your military service, you're in. There are other conditions that will restrict what you can do, but you'd still be allowed to join. For example, if you are color-blind they'll still let you in but they won't let you do any type of job that involves electronics. If you don't have perfect 20/20 vision they'll still let you in but you can't be a pilot or on a flight crew unless your vision can be corrected to 20/20 and you get a job where you can wear glasses or contact lenses (some you can, some you can't). BOTTOM LINE: As long as you're in good health and don't have some medical condition that the Flight Surgeon declares service-barring, you'll be singing "Anchors Aweigh" before you know it.

nicely first, your ASVAB (AFQT) share, does not remember while it includes interest decision. Your 9 sub rankings are all that count sort. So regardless of a ninety%, that doesn't recommend you're able to qualify for each interest, simply by fact the AFQT in basic terms makes use of four of the 9 sub attempt. 2d. not all jobs are obtainable once you flow to meps. some jobs they do only not choose everyone for, some the A colleges are booked up already. in case you went to MEPS, you will possibly desire to have already difficulty-free, precisely what jobs you qualify for, And precisely what interest you needed. it is not thier interest, to maintain naming jobs, untill you pay attention one you have an interest in. So do your homework, inspect your sub rankings, be sure what expenditures you qualify for. Then p.c.. the jobs you decide on, and flow lower back to meps and ask for those jobs.

99% in.

The results of your background may prevent you in some MOS. And if its the MOS you really want...

Medical. They may find a medical reason to disqualify you.

You may not like the availabliity of some MOS. For instance, Spanish Language interpreter always has a multi-year waiting list. Your training may not begin for 3 or 6 months or longer. This will affect your start date and may prove a deal breaker for you.

Other than that...I can't think of anything at MEPS that would do it.

Nope not until you actually report to Bootcamp/Basic Training. If something comes up or you just decide not to go in. You can always tell them no I'm not ready to go right now, or I just dont want to go. They may tell you some BS and try to scare you by saying they can have you arrested for failure to go or some other crap, but all they can do is go back to there office and stick a thumb up there ***.

Things can always change were they can tell you are not eligble to enlist. Most of the time there is a waiver or you might just have to wait a little longer to get shipped off to Basic Training.

Yeah. There may still be a medical reason for not letting you in. That's what the MEPS station is for.

If you want in, you're in. There are a few things on the physical that can disqualify you, but you're not likely to have any of those.
