It is much harder with shoulder length hair. You put it into a low lying pony tail. Twist it slightly and wrap it up into a circle. Use bobby pins to clip it into place. Pins should be put into the hair in the circle to clip to your head every 1/2". You can then use a net or no net, up to you. They have hair nets that are very light and thin and if you get them the color of your hair no one will see them and they help hold the hair in place.

If you can not perfect this do try a french roll instead. They are very becoming and easier to put up. You roll the hair up from the side toward the center of the back of the head. Then use pins to clip it into place up and down the roll. The hair is combed to the side to make it easier. This looks more stylish with your military attire. Practise this because in the military you need to do your hair several times a day. After PT and sometimes later in the day.
If it is a hastle for you, find a nice appropriate military cut that you can wash and wear. It is so much easier.
