The parvo virus can survive as long as 7 years in an environment. I would wash all bedding and shampoo carpets as well as sterilize dog dishes etc before introducing another pup to the household. All breeds are vulnerable to parvo.

I am so sorry for your loss.
This would be an excellent time for two things to occur:
1. One heck of a good Spring cleaning, using all the information about cleaning solutions (but call the vet for the best product to use, bleach can ruin anything in your house);
2. Visiting a shelter and adopting an older dog. They may not be parvo proof but, their immune systems are well developed and they are so very much in need of your loving home.
Puppies are cute for about 6 months and then they are dogs, so please don't pass up an older dog just for the short lived experience of having a puppy.
Good luck.

The required norm is 2 years for the parvo virus (still in your house to die) before you get another puppy.
However, I have heard you can clean your house from top to bottom with 1:3 bleach to water solution to kill of the virus.
It shouldnt matter if the puppy has the shots, the are still susceptable to getting parvo until a year old.

Parvo spores stay for 6 months or so. Puppies can be given a specific PARVO vaccination though, ask your vet about it.
All breeds can get parvo.

My vet told me to wait at least 2 years and periodically spray a bleach/water solution all over the back yard including inside my home. Throw away all of the previous dog toys, bedding, water/food bowls etc. The virus is very resiliant and can survive extremely weather conditions.
My rottie received all his shots and still contracted parvo, thankfully he survived but it was after one week of intensive treatments by my vet. I threatened to sue the drug manufacturer and they reimbursed me for the hospital stay and some other costs.

From what I have read you would have to wait awhile since the virus can live for a long time... And every breed can get parvo... If you want to get another dog than I think you would have to get one that is older because they would be immune to it... I personally would wait awhile... :)

I think you have to wait 6 months unless you disinfect your home top to bottom with bleach.
