Hopefully you mean cubic yards as a plain yard is a linear measure not suitable for storing volumes.

All you need to know is the density of the gravel in pounds per cubic yard. Call that factor D.

So to find the cubic yards just calculate 26030 divided by D.

Based SOLELY on my orders for landscaping materials from local suppliers.... 1 cubic yard of 0.75" to 1" gravel is about 1.3 Tons.

Based on this, you have 10.0 yards of gravel.

It depends on the size and shape of the gravel, so there cannot be a non-statistical answer (i.e. exact formula). Mostly, any "formula" is empirical.

there is not enough data to answer precisely. For that you need the unit weight of the gravel. Many Civil Engineers use a conversion factor of 1.6 tons per cubic yard. This is not precise but it is close enough for many purposes.

yards = (26030/2000)/1.6

12.05 cubic yards based on the weight of dry river gravel.

A lot depends on the size and rock composition. Example is compare lava rock to granite. Sand to a boulder. BIG difference.

River gravel = approx. 80 lbs. per cf
26,030/80=325.375 cf
325.375/27=12.05092592593 cu. yds.

Gravel, loose, dry - 1.28 tons/cubic yard
Gravel, w/sand, natural - 1.61 tons/cubic yard
Gravel, dry 1/4 to 2 inch - 1.41 tons/cubic yard
Gravel, wet 1/4 to 2 inch - 1.69 tons/cubic yard

Depends on the type of gravel. I will show an example using loose dry gravel from the above list.
ie(if you have loose gravel)

take 26030/(1.28*2000)=10.16796875 yards

Apples and oranges. Tons is weight and can vary by material(ie denser or less dense) and yards is volume. It also varies by size of rock due to more or less air space and whether the rock is wet or dry.

Google "convert cubic yard to ton" and you will get several conversion tables.
