sam, if it wasn't doubt then why did God say it was doubt
"But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."

God used Moses to teach us about leadership and that we are never to elevate humans to a higher status (Egyptian Pharoahs were considered to be gods). God was trying to teach Moses to be a good leader and to use self-restraint and wisdom to guide his people.

We learn from the Bible that in other cultures, the rulers were not held accountable, but God's chosen people were all accountable for their actions and even the slaves were to be guaranteed rights. The Bible tells us that "slaves" were to be treated like family and were to be freed after seven years with enough resources to care for themselves and their families.

Without the laws of the Bible, civiliations sink into anarachy.

That's not a parable. A parable is a story that is made up with a moral at the end. Moses actually lived. He was a real person. It's historical fact. If you read the whole thing, you'll see that it took God a looooong time to get fed up with the Israelites. He gave them chance after chance. Even when they gave up on God and made an idol to worship, God gave them another chance. He allowed the ancestors of the Israelites see the promised land, just as a punishment to the people following Moses, He took that reward away. They were faithless, disobedient, etc, etc. How many times did your parents take something away from you when you were little if you were misbehaved? It's pretty much the same here.

PS- I'm going to apologize for Sam above me. Very sarcastic and rude of her to talk to you that way. You could be asking a real question or you could be trying to make a point through a question. We can't know

Moses didn't doubt God, he took credit for something that God had given the people. Moses later asked if he could see the promise land and God allowed it. Moses died faithful and will still see the paradise. Numbers 20: 7-12; Deut. 3: 24-27; Deut. 34: 1-12

Moses being the greatest leader of the time, was held to a higher standard than everyone else.

It wasn't a parable, it wasn't doubt. Moses spoke unadvisably with God, oh, I'm sorry, you don't believe in God so this makes no sense to you. You are ignorant of the issues but you try to talk about them anyway. MY BAD!
