Not always. In a dog pack only the dominant female will breed. If lower ranking females breed, the dominant female will often kill the other pups.
Its the job of the lower ranking pack members to babysit, guard the den, and help hunt to feed the pups.
So its in a dog owners best interests to be top dog in the family pack. Males, especially neutered can also make great babysitters, and on another question theres a female being rehomed because she's not trustworthy around kids.

I am not sure about that. However male dogs can be just as good with kids. It is more important upon the individual dog's personality and temperament. If you find a male dog that you take a liking to and he is good with kids, then by all means choose that male. If it is a young dog and grows up with the kids, then it will most likely be good with the kids.

Not necessarily. Any dog can (unfortunately) learn that kids are unsafe to be around, or vice versa - if a dog has all positive and happy experiences with kids from the start, then he OR she will be fine with kids, because his or her foundation was great, and his or her experiences were great too.
You can see where I'm going with this. Any dog can also learn that kids are dangerous and do unexpected and threatening things, and will learn to protect him or herself from them. The key is to have controlled situations where both dog and children are under supervision, and the dog is rewarded for calm interactions with kids, and is in turn treated well by the kids.

It entirely depends on the individual dog. Also some breeds are better with children than others. You must remember that it is a two way learning curve though and when you get a puppy, you should ensure that the children learn to respect the dogs as well as the other way round.

I think it depends on the breed, but i have both a male and a female.
My male is better calmer with children then my female, both gentle and good with children though.
I really would say that it depends on the breed but also to a degree the personality of the individual dog, my 2 are both very different.
Hope that's helpful

kind of. In a word i guess they are. Females are less dominering to their territory, whilst males can become very protective sometimes leading to aggression. Also Female dogs tend to be more sensitive in comparison to male dogs just due to the hormones etc. But overall, there is hardly any difference at all, its quite uncommon for 'just' a male dog to become aggressive.

i think each dog is different just like people are. you would be better off picking a dog out because of their temperament and not because it's a male or female. anyone that has ever seen a litter of puppies would agree. some are mellow, some are more active. my male puppy was the mellow cuddly one of the bunch and he absolutely loves kids. heck, he loves everybody.

Not as a rule. The temperment of the individual dog is the most important thing. My current male dog is more gentle with kids than my female who is a very high energy dog - though both are pretty good overall. That said, unneutered males have the highest rate of dog bites of any type of dog - neutering reduces the potential for all types of aggressison in males substantially. So regardless which sex you get, get it spayed or neutered.
