Thaw in the refrigerator over night. You should use frozen meat within 6 months.

I have always just pulled it out in the morning and put it in a bowl on the counter and let it set or put in a pie pan which I have seen that frozen meat place on a metal cooking sheet has speed up the process. Or I will sprinkle some salt, that has helped too. The proper way is to put in the fridge and thaw there but that takes several days. And frankly who has several days to thaw meat nowadays.

I think the best way is to remove the plastic wrapper and put the Hamburger in a sealed plastic bowl over night in the refrigerator. The next day it should be un thawed and easy to cook or work with.

It is only safe to thaw meat in the refrigerator. At room temperature meat warms on the outside while the inside is still frozen, giving little nasties a chance to grown on it. Meat is best when not kept frozen more than 6 months but it has to be well wrapped or it gets freezer burn.

In the refrigerator is the ideal way. If you need it faster then run it under cold water. Microwave would not be ideal, because it will cook as it thaws. Leaving on the counter or at room temp is the best way to get sick.

The best way to thaw hamburger is in the fridge over night. Once it's frozen it will be o.k. for about three months. As long as it's wrapped properly.

Fridge, overnight.. If you decide suddenly that you need it now, you can use the microwave defrost feature.

Never, ever defrost on the counter top at room temp. Too much opportunity for food poisoning.

Hamburger should be used within 6 months from the freezer.
