Seems a lot of hotels are becoming completely non-smoking doing away with all of their smoking rooms......if you regularly used a hotel/motel that allowed you to smoke but now doesn't would you stay there anyways and just deal with smoking where it was allowed or change hotels that would allow you to smoke in your room? Does anyone know what percentage of the population are smokers?

I don't have a particularly favorite hotel, but I always try to find one that has smoking rooms available. If not, then I try to arrange for a room close to the bottom floor so I can get to an outside smoking area fairly easy. i am going to New York in April an must stay in a smoke free Hotel for four days. Dreading that. I am not sure about the percentage of smokers, but I remember seeing something that it was about 35% last year. Cheers!

Personally I do not smoke. I yet would care less if a hotel let someone smoke in their personal room as long as the hotel could guarentee I would not get a room that was occupied by a smoker. I do not know what hotels you stay in , but we always complain to the management about Why there are ashtrays in non¿smoking rooms. The only areas that I want to see stay smoke free is the common areas like resteraunts and dinning facilities. I guess some hotels are getting fed up with smokers disposing of their cigarette butts just anywhere they feel like it. We went to a beach and at the pool there were cigarrette butts everytwhere. While ashtrays are conviently marked and located every 100 feet or so. I damaged my lungs due to smoking and being on the fire department so I guess I am not a good person to ask.

As far as statistics maybe the American Caner Society may have them.

i do not imagine you get fined, yet when the vendors of the inn locate out that you're smoking contained in the room (and it is glaring from the scent!) they could ask you to stop, ask you to leave or ask you to pay a cost for the more effective cleansing. also, in the adventure that they get stuck allowing you to smoke of their inn room, they could get into extra difficulty than you ought to. have you learnt that it truly is a criminal offense and that you could set of fireplace/smoke alarms and inconvenience all and multiple contained in the inn, jointly with your self, so please don't be egocentric and bypass outside the inn to savour your cigarette.
