Since christianity is a death cult.
What else do you call a religion who's be-all and end-all is a battle where all life on earth is extinguished?

A religion where if you don't like your life, just sit on your ever-expanding backside and wait to die, the magical candy-land called heaven will be much better. No need to better yourself or the world around you?

On the other hand, Atheists live for the NOW. We love life and all it has to offer, even the setbacks. We cherish our friends, our families and the world around us. We KNOW there is no afterlife so we make the best of this one.

And that, is what has christians angry of course. They cannot stand the idea that someone is happy without belonging to their childish, bronze-age cult.

What has abortion have to do with it?
Oh yes, now I remember, since you can't answer the question directly, you try to change the subject. Why?
Because you know I'm 100% right.

Barry Calvin,
You are SO very correct!
If I could give you the 10pts right now I would but you'll just have to wait.
Good answer!

Celloman,
you are SO very wrong. I know for a FACT that there is no god. Why? Because there isn't a single, solitary shred of evidence to the contrary.
Just as I know there isn't a teapot in orbit around the sun between Earth and Mars.
But if you have evidence to support the existence of god (or of the teapot) then by all means, provide it. You'd be the first person in history to do so...

Christian Warrior: Ever heard of a pro-life/anti-choice atheist?

Pleased to make your aquaintence.

The abortion debate is not a religious debate, it's a moral one. Just as there are pro-choice Christians, there are pro-life atheists.

-----------

cello: Actually, I know for a fact that there is no deity of any type or name. It doesn't require all-knowledge. Just one little bit that's easily proven (that there is no free will -- consequence of the Church-Turing Thesis). Yes, I'm an atheist. I seem to be the first you've apparently met.

Not so pleased to make your arrogant and closed-minded aquaintence.

the web makes human beings solid because they cover in the back of a reveal. All you be conscious is an avatar spewing nonsense. Odds are many of the Christians who're so unfavourable in route of gay human beings would not say something, because they're no longer prepared to take the effect for doing so. on the information superhighway, they're so loose to do what the favor, and the rate? merely human beings typing indignant issues. in reality, that they had get beaten up (and good too) for conserving what they do on the following. yet that suggested, in human being i'm rather intense of religion. effective one, @Rev.E.A. you probably did not examine the question.

Atheism is a death culture because of the nihilism required to believe that life is a cosmic accident. Not only does life HAVE to be an accident but you have to believe that there is nothing special about humans, that afterward we and the sum of all that we were ceases to exist, and that there is no special purpose to human life. The atheist motto literally becomes 'eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die'. On the surface that may look like embracing life but your life is essentially a 7-9 decade wake to mourn the fact that you will no longer exist and that the universe is, in fact, indifferent to your existence.

Gotta love Christian Rhetoric. "Dealt Culture, pro death" Poor brainwashed believers. Seems to me that if the leaders of the Christian Coalition came up with a new term of the week, it would be a little more fun. They just keep rehashing the old ones that got political footing amongst the "loving" Christian population.

Lets see if we can come up with a few Coalition terms for them to try:

Atheists: Moraless Morons
Agnostics: Unfaithful Unclean Urbanites
Buddhists: Reincarnated Rapist Rabbits
Hindus: Dirty Deity Denizens
Gays: Sinful Sodomites
Lesbians: Lustful Lurid Lord-less Lovers
Muslims: Misguided Mohammad Martyrs
Christians of other denominations: Truth-less Tools
Catholics: Mary Loving Liars

Apparently you and the Christian that said "death culture" are both narrow minded and arrogant in your beliefs. I am not an angry Christian. I know that atheists are able to be good people. I know that Christians are able to be lazy. I do believe that most people, regardless of their beliefs, try to make the most of their time on earth. My life is not less rewarding because of my faith. My faith does help me have more respect for all of God's creations. My desire to be more Christ-like drives me to help my brothers and sisters (not just in Christianity) any way I can. I am glad you are happy in your lack of faith. Your question though is not showing this.

May God Bless you.

Being a Christian, it is their responsiblity to let others know of their beliefs and that whatever someone else believes is wrong. When, in fact, Christianity, as we know it, is an off-shoot of a Jewish pagan religion called Gnosticism. Here's another fact: over the last two thousand years religious leaders have cherry-picked the best of everything out there, folded it into Christianity, and decreed it fact. Conveniently, they left out a lot of good things also for the betterment of mankind, and to keep women in their place.

I've never heard it called that, but I would tend to agree only because they have no hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. They only believe in the here and now so what do they have to look forward to when they die? I have eternal life to look forward to, so that makes me happy knowing I can face God and not be ashamed, afraid or rejected by sin since Jesus washed away my sins. Anyone who has ever experienced His forgiveness understands this. If not, then it is foolishness to the ones who are perishing.

You see I like this Yahoo!answers because it shows respect to people...I can tell you that you might hear some heavy words from a Christian ..Take for example the New Testaments where Saint Peter and the others are talking what the Holly Spirit tells them to say....They don't speah from their own minds , they speak the words from God..Are these words nothing to some?I don't think so. They just say they don't care..but they care a lot...
Regarding ..atheism..this atheism is coming from the time of mithology..yes that Christian was right..and especialy from the people who obeyed to idols...

I myself have personal opinion about atheism..A monk said nobody is entirely godless. So they ehagerate it..It is against reason to believe that there is no God for sure ...So nobody can think against HIS OWN REASON WHICH IS our reason , of all , and the reason of God. They just play...and want to be rebelious...I think that atheism is a kind of idolatry...So ..I can say..I am not ..my own God..I say...God exists, and He is my master...I really know an so called atheist ...my husband , who was so proud that he said this even in court ..where he didn't want to accept to divorce from me ...although he claimed to be an atheist ..and he used to say , We the christians are fanatics..When he had financial trouble , he asked me to pray to God , otherwise we shall loose our bread and home and everything. So there is no atheism , believe me,,it is a death culture and some like to fight...

Interesting take on it, Yoda Green!

I've always thought of them as character flawed. You know. That umbrella term that describes the type of pathology where the individual is other directed. Nothing is ever their fault. If their life is bad, it's always the gawd-damn (fill in the blank here) fault. No ability to take personal responsibility for anything. And in the Christian's case, it's always, "god's will."

Never thought of them as a death cult before. But your point is well taken. In the case of their belief in "heaven" I always felt that they wanted to be "rescued." A type of Blanche DuBois character flaw where they can't stand on their own two legs and look to others for life's necessities. All of it, of course, falling under the character flawed pathology.

Now death cult works for me too. It's simple and to the point. How can you be at all concerned about life threatening issues like the global environment when you're waiting for death and an invitation to what is perceived as heavenly paradise? And that paradise? Oy! I can't think of a better prescription for Alzheimer's Disease!

It's a silly and unjustifiable comment. As you say, atheists don't believe in an afterlife, so that leads us to cherish the life we have instead of treating it as some kind of proving-ground or waiting room for a posthumous paradise.

Christian Warrior: you presume, incorrectly, that all atheists are pro-abortion, delighting in the death of every fetus. That's false. Some atheists are pro-life, but most accept that there are specific circumstances in which abortion is necessary or acceptable.
