Here's the proof. See link (1 & 2).
Here's the proof in layman's speak (3).
Here's the icing on the cake (4).
Global Warming is a natural cycle - 7 or so Ice ages have come and gone in the last 650,000 years. However, we have superimposed on this natural cycle global heating which is inadditional to and separate from this natural pattern. Global heating is down to us - nothing else.
Sadly its not scaremongering its face the music time for a century and a half of unbridalled arrogance and greed.

I hate to p!ss on the parade - but the ice caps do melt all the time; In the summer most of the ice caps melts and we see very little change in Eustacy.
What they worry about is when the winter ice caps do not return or have shrank from the year before. Using Ice caps is a bad measure of global temperature as the background rises and falls in temperature would melt them anyway, if we also factor in the effects of human, fishing, exploring living in places that have never been before this also has a baring on how the ice melts.
You need to look at the overall effects global rises in temperature, how steeply they are rising and if this is the effect of factors such as greenhouse gases.

This is an ongoing cycle-couple of hundred thousand years we'll be back in an ice age, polution whilst damaging the ozone layer also creates a blanket around the earth-reducing the amount of suns energy that gets in-thus reducing the temperature on the earths surface.
