I have recently started having feelings for an old friend of mine, we have known each other for about 9 years but i hadnt seen him in about 2 and in the last month i have started seeing him again and think i am starting to fall for him the only thing is about 5 years ago i was going out with his brother. what can i do? should i just give up or is it not that big a deal?xxx

It's kind of an awkward position, but the best way to deal with this is to find out how the brothers are about it. If you have come to terms with that situation, and both brothers are ok with it as well, I don't see why you shouldn't pursue a relationship.

it is a big deal. never come between family members. its never ever going to end the way u want it to. someone always gets hurt or a grudge against the other starts. a super bad idea! the worse thing that could happen is both turning against u. if the other brother has excepted the fact that ur with his sibling then u have no problem. talk to him first to see if it is fine. if not, run for the hills! trouble will be sure to brew. plus u can always find another guy. THATS NOT IN THE SAME FAMILY!

If he is interested in you, it may solve the problem if he speaks to his brother first.
If you were seeing the brother five years ago, he is probably enjoying another relationship; and wouldn't be the slightest bit bothered.

I suppose it depends on how long you were with his brother if it was a serious longterm thing i'd stay clear but if it wasnt and both you and your friend feel the same way and the brother wouldnt have a problem with it i dont see the harm.

It depends how far did you get with him - if you were just dating and kissing you should be ok if you fooled about a bit but didn't go all the way things might be awkward but nothing major and it will blow over if you had $ex then you might both get some stick from his brother - Just let it go over your head if your happy and he's happy who cares

I would suggest you not engage in that at all but if you must be ready to except what goes along with that. People gonna have things to say and you run the risk of them having a soiled view of you. If you wanna risk do the date thing but avoid sex to see if he is in it for what he may feel for you or what his brother felt and he wants to feel it to.

As long as the other brother doesn't mind I don't see the big deal. Just as long as you're sure because you could upset the family other this so make sure he's worth it.

It depends on how your break up was with his brother was it on good terms or bad, if things where OK i don't see why there should be a problem with it.
