~Probably not. People are too shallow. When they say you have freedom of religion, they mean "freedom of Christian religion, and and a tolerance of other non Christian worship"

Ever? for ever ever?
I think there have already been presidents who are really atheists or agnostic, but couldn't get elected without professing some form of Christian faith. If you listen to the Nixon tapes, you will hear a guy who had no problem swearing and taking the Lord's name in vain. Clinton didn't really act as if God exists either.
But I don't think a president can be elected right now without claiming to be a Christian. Hopefully that will change, as society evolves.

Not in todays climate of fear and religious zeal. In the future, I'm sure, when they mature emotionally. Afterall, fifty years ago there was no way a woman could ever be considered for U.S. President, and now one is running for that very office. So, things change as socieities mature.

Yes I do believe that one day an outwardly atheist President will be elected. It wouldn't suprise me if we have already elected an Atheist President but they just said they were "Christian" for political gains.

Probably not for some time. An atheist (Jesse Ventura) was elected Governor some years back.

Not while a hundred million are brainwashed weekly into thinking atheists (and most non-christians) have no morals whatsoever.
Of course, one could argue that there is no way the *current* president could be a true christian and actually condone torture.

No within the next couple of years but there will be a change someday, Lincon wasn't a Christian and he was elected.

Right now, no. But I sense a change.
Why would you want to be. Have you noticed how that job ages you?
