Sorry, but the answer is no. When you buy a new home, you can write off (a) the closing costs, if you bought it in 2006, (b) the property taxes you paid on the house in 2006, and (c) the interest you paid to the mortgage company in 2006. I asked the same question of the CPA/CFP who does my taxes. She has been doing this for 40+ years and knows all the ins and outs of itemizing deductions, and that's the answer I got from her. But did you know that you can write off the costs of registering your vehicles? It's only a couple hundred dollars here in Michigan, but every little bit helps.

No, you cannot, assuming that you are talking about a home that you are using personally (your residence). You add these items to the cost of you home as part of your basis. You will use the basis figure to calculate your gain or loss when the time comes to sell the home.
If you are talking about a rental property, these items can be depreciated.

Only at such time as you sell the property. If you aren't subject to the Capital Gains tax, it really won't matter.
You are increasing the basis though....
good luck & bless

No. You can use all of those to adjust your cost basis though. That will reduce your gain when you eventually sell.

If those items were purchased AFTER you purchased the home, then yes, you can write off a portion of the money you spend on home improvements if it is your primary residence or a rental property.
