Yes you will have to pay less. No it doesn't cover first month payment, but usually you don't have to make a payment fo like two months after you buy the car.

Basically, yes. You are borrowing less money, so you payments may be lower for the same amount of time. Depending on what you want, you could also put more money down and keep the payments basically the same, but for a shorter amount of time. As far as the down payment including the first months payment, it is not the usual. But I suppose it could be worked out into the payment arrangements. You would have to talk to the dealer. Usually your first months payment doesn't start until 30 to 45 days after the contract is signed. Again check with your dealer when the payments are due. I am basing my answers on buying the car, not leasing the car. Leasing is a different matter. And I am not really sure about the payment thing. But the more you put down on a lease, is the same. Many people chose leasing because of the low down payment, so it doesn't sound like you are going to lease.

yes, it lowers your payment, but not significantly. avoid going with a down payment, if you can. you are giving the car dealer a lump sum, so they can invest your cash and gain interest on it. hold onto your cash, let it earn interest for YOU.

look at the math- do the #'s. or talk to someone who can if you don't understand the whole thing. the amount your payment is reduced is NOT significant. depending on the interest rate, it will only affect you about $10 per 1000. (For example, if you put down $2000 as opposed to zero, your monthly payment will be $20-$30 less).

So it depends on whats importnat to you. but if you want to save a lump sum, and you can absorb an extra 20-30 a month, go that route.

Yes.

The smart thing to do would be to pay for the whole car in cash so you don't have a payment. A car payment is a bed form of debt. I know, you are not going to be able to buy the newest fanciest car out there that your $200 a month can buy you, but if times get tough, you will be happy you don't have a car payment.

First, YES your payments will be lower. Second, your down payment does NOT generally include your first payment.

The more money you put down, the smaller your monthly payments are. Some companies incluide your first monthly payment in the dp and others don't. You'll have to double check with the institution that you're getting your loan through.

It will absolutely lower your payment. In some cases it may even lower your interest rate. It just depends on your situation.
