I think most people like the idea because they're afraid of death in some way.

I think most people cannot really, really fathom how unending eternal really is.

And when there is no pain or sadness and you are constantly one emotion, that equates with me to numbness. Constantly status quo.

I so feel your quandry. I spent most of my life dreading even another day of life.

Today I believe the closer you get to God the more wonderful you feel and the if some is good more is better.

I take the promise to mean an eternal life with the god who brings all joy and glory.

Oh and lets not forget an eternal end to all misery and suffering

I guess if you don't believe in God, the thought of spending eternity with Him would not be appealing. Since I do believe, I will be able to meet my Heavenly Father and find the answers to the questions we've all been asking during our earthly life. I will get to see people together without hate, fear, hunger, depression, everything that is bad or evil. Just love and joy and peace. That's worth believing!

May God Bless you.

There are a lot of possibilities, I'd imagine. The question is, what would be so great about eternal life if you couldn't explore all of those due to the necessity of bowing and scraping before some jealous child-god - that's what matters to me.

Eternal life means living with my God and my family and the people I love forever and learning the answers to many of lifes baffling questions. We only use approximately 10 % of our brains as humans while we are alive. I look forward to an eternity of learning.

It lets you sacrifice this life for that one. We call that suicide.
You have a right to end your life, since i believe it to be truly your life. I would rather you lived to enjoy this wonderful experience, even the bad ones make you feel, and feeling is wonderful, bad feelings serve to heighten the good ones. It seems our goal is to make all feelings bearable, which is like a food buffet. Everything tastes the same. I'd rather make life a special event!

I can see the appeal but I wouldn't waste this life longing for an afterlife in eternity. I'll live as if there is no afterlife.

It is a lot better than eternal damnation. Get ready for the judgment day. The time is near. (Revelation) 16:16.
