Yesterday I saw a woman buying all her food at stop & shop with gift cards, she had a couple $100 dollar gift cards. This got me thinking that she probably was able to buy them at a discount somewhere and that is why she was using them. Does anyone know where I can get these at a discount, food is a lot of money and I wouldn't mind saving a bit. Even 5-10% would be nice, Thank You!

PS: I would prefer a place online, and if not in CT.

It would help to know what region of the country you are in. I can tell you two places where I've seen them. 1 is at Giant Eagle supermarkets (Cleveland Ohio area, they sell them because the stores are owned by the same company) and another is on a TV show, "Dining with Steve" on Akron's Channel 35. Now I believe that Stop & Shop is regional, so this might help you. If not, I tried. They sell the cards at 20% off.

Just because we are in a recession doesn't mean the universe stops. GDP has fallen by 1%. Usually it grows about 3%. So there's not too much difference between a recession and a boom for most people. It's great to see people spending. They are the people keeping the economy from getting worse! Spending helps the economy like this. Every dollar spent is a dollar of income for someone else. If spending drastically falls, that means income falls. Jobs go and people earn less. Simple as that. And everyone out there who can afford to spend can keep doing it. Nothing changes unless your scare you'll loose your job. If everyone got scared and didn't spend at all, then no one would make any income and we'd all be screwed. PS- The International Monetary System won't collapse. PS- George Bush is not at fault. The spending on the Iraq war has the same effect as Obama's stimulus plan- increasing spending and incomes in the economy. Bush is not at fault. Blame Roosevelt, Clinton and Carter. It's their policies which started this crisis
