This is a questions that theologians have asked for thousands and thousands of years. But on that has an answer that's more simple then you might imagine.

Human beings generally fear things that he can't understand or figure out. So its natural to be scared of something you don't understand. And thres nobody who when on his death bed is going to admit he's not a little scared. There's an old saying that goes. No man dies an atheist. People say that because we are all seeking God in some form or another. And don't forget that even being an atheist also takes some faith. Especially since 90 percent of the worlds population believes in God in some form or another. So really not believing in God is just has hard as believing in him because there's no absolute proof that there is no God. So atheism is like a religion as well. When your an atheist you latterly have to "keep the faith" because there are allot of people who disagree with you. That's why so many people who don't believe in God get so offended when God comes up.

There's nothing I can say to assure you that when you die you won't cease to exist however I can tell you this.

#1 Law of the universe. Matter is nether created nor destroyed its just changed.

When you burn a log it seems like its gone but there are still ashes left. There is smoke residue in your chimney and you can still smell it. You can even touch it. It's changed forms but its still there.

When a plant dies it decays and its body is reabsorbed by the earth, its vitamins and minerals are absorbed by other plants and they live on and the cycle of life continues. So on an abstract level that plant continues and lives in other plants.

The human mind is far above these processes but at the same time still part of them. Just because we can't take our thoughts out of our heads and look at them like marbles doesn't mean that they don't continue to exist beyond our understanding.

Just because we don't see any physical evidence that our souls go on after our bodies die doesn't mean it doesn't happen. After all 90 percent of the world believes in God in some form or other. And they all believe in the existence of the soul. Maybe its just me but you gota figure that somebody's got something right in the thousands of thousands of years that man has been on this earth.

As human beings are very attached to our bodies. We spend our entire lives maintaining them. Rather then thinking of yourself as your body remember that your soul is eternal and your body is more or less a machine that your soul uses to explore the physical reality that we all live in. You body's like a car and your souls like the driver. Eventually when your car gets too messed up to drive. Your soul will move on.

Let me pose this thought to you. What if this world that we live in today is really the illusion. What if our souls exist in a higher place and we use our bodies to explore our physical universe.
So we can grow and learn about each other. So we can learn how to better co-exist in the world unseen.

The fear of "not existing" is clinging and attachment to the things of this life you think are bringing you happiness, from a Buddhist pov. Trust me, the mind NEVER ceases to exist, it goes on, so cultivate wisdom and an altruistic mind and not only will you live forever but you'll generate the good karma of having good rebirths.

If you fear death, that just means you haven't yet lived. You still have time. Find out why you won't let yourself live. This means... being you. Are you living for someone else? Your parents? Your society? Your friends? Your religion? Do they make you live you life for them instead? I'd be afraid to die too.

If you do good things, and ask forgiveness , the you shall live..You must fulfill the ten comandements of the Christian God, and you shall live forever.God told us that we shall live forever..so why are you scared..We are supposed to believe we shall live forever...we are not suposed to believe we shall die..But you have to come at good terms with God , to be happy and free, and get rid of the ideea that you could die..It is simple ..if you believe in God ..then you will believe that you shall never die..It that o.k.?Those who believe in God, cannot believe that they will die..it is impossible ..Actually no one believes he shall die..everyone belives he shall live ...after death...but he likes to cry and deny...because of the temptations..coming from satan..I am angry with some that think they enter the Heaven anyway...no matter how bad they are...but you see God gave them this hope and the will to live ,because God wants them to come to Him ,and we , the others who are mild..God asks us to forgive...and love even our enemy...hard job..for some...

You don't want the world going on w/ out you. You will miss something.

The day we are born is the day we start to die.

You're lucky to exist at all. Appreciate life, and accept death, and you'll find that you're not afraid anymore.

You won't live forever...you'll find yourself less scared and more at peace the more quickly you accept this.
