Why does better understanding and manipulating your environment equate to evil?
Why did God create a tree with fruit containing both the elements of knowledge and death?

question 3 why not? I don't see why a god would
be required to have a reason for anything.

2. It doesn't. God created science, after all...
3. Probably to test the will of Adam and his as-yet-unnamed wife (later to be Eve). Of course they failed miserably, bringing sin to the world.

I praise Prometheus for bringing us fire. He suffered so that we may endure. Fire is crucial to our survival. We need it for warmth, to cook our food and for light.
