It's not necessarily a cold sore! Cracking skin around the delicate mouth area can be attributed to a number of things. It's usually a sign of vitamin B deficiency. Buy yourself a high strength time-release B vit complex from your local health store, and follow directions. Also look for Bee Propolis cream. It contains unique compounds that accelerate healing and protect from infection. Apply regularly. In future look for low fat B vit rich food like whole grains and avocado and try to include them in your diet.
You may find that the cracking is caused by a food sensitivity, for example; during her divorce my mum started to get the same symptoms on her mouth - we worked out it was caused by tomatoes. The recent anxiety had caused her skin to become more sensitive and the acidic tomato juice was causing the little lesions. If you do identify the problem as a food source you can always try re-introducing experimentally into your diet at a later date.

If the wound is on the lips or outside area of the mouth, wash it well with soap and water, but do not scrub the wound. Remove any dirt particles from the area and let the water from the tap run over it for several minutes. A dirty cut or scrape that is not well cleaned can cause scarring.
Apply an antiseptic lotion or cream.

Personally I don't think it's a cold sore either, I get them on both sides of my mouth only in the winter. I use Vaseline and/or baby oil. Just keep well moisturised and you should have fun at you dinner dance

It's probably where your lips have cracked from lack of moisture. Zovirax won't help if it's not a coldsore. Get some Nivea SOS lip balm and keep applying it to the affected area - not just when you're outside in the cold, central heating when you're indoors can cause dryness too.
I've attached the link to the Nivea website so that you can see what it does before you decide to buy it.
Have a good time at your "do"!

This small cut is a result of a lack of vitamin B12. It will respond well to drinking a couple of cups of marmite drink or eating Marmite on toast 2-3 days for breakfast.

I doubt if it's a cold sore, as they don't manifest themselves as a cut. Try tea tree oil a wonderful natural aid to healing.

Try some vaseline while you sleep. Most likely, your lips are just really dry, but it could also be a vitamin deficiency. Try eating some iron-rich foods like spinach or broccoli, and it should clear up.

Don't lick it as licking it &/or touching it takes moisture away from lips & makes the cut worse. It should heal by itself that way.

Rub a little salt into it before going to bed. It will soon go.
