Honestly, neutering a dog is a such a quick and simple procedure I wouldn't worry about these things. There is very little recovery time, if any, and shouldn't make a difference how it is done. Spaying a female dog is a different story, though, as it is much more invasive.

Laser is usually more expensive but is less painful for the animal and results in a quicker recovery time. Usually does not require sutures either.

The laser is supposed to shorten recovery time. I have had several friends use the laser, and none of us has noticed that recovery time was any shorter. It is expensive, and IMO a total waste of money.

It costs more, but those I know who have had it done, said that the incision was much smaller, so fewer stitches. There was less bleeding and the dog healed faster. And since less anesthetic is used, there is less chance of problems with that.

It is a consideration for large breeds who may be sensitive to anesthetics.

Pros...Using a laser will cause less bleeding because the heat cauterizes the wound. Less recover time, less sensitivity, let surgical time.

Cons...More money
