None of my protestant friends do it. And yes, I'm a Roman Catholic. My favorite prayer is the Rosary. God Bless you all.

You asked me to explain. We Catholics say "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" because we ask what we are praying for (or thanking God for) in His name.

Also, there is somewhere in the bible where Christ shows us that we can find protection in Mary. At the foot of the cross He said, "Behold your Mother, Mother behold your son." To John. That is symbolic. The "son" is the world. Us.

The rosary wasn't "invented"! I was given to Saint Dominic by Mary, the Mother of Jesus! And we don't pray TO the saints and Mary. We pray through them. We ask them to pray for us and to ask Jesus to grant our requests. I hope I cleared your very blurry vision of the Catholic Church.

It is usually because they do not understand what you do the sign of the cross for. We do not say the rosary because it is a prayer to Mary and we do not see prayers to Mary or any other saints in heaven in the Bible, so we do not go there. Can you explain why you do the sign of the cross?

Protestants recognize the Bible as thier authority. We do not believe in the inventions of the Catholic Church. The sign of the cross and the Rosary are not Biblical. That is why Protestants don't do it.

Dr. Boettner then gives us "Some Roman Catholic Heresies And Inventions" and the dates that these alleged "Apostolic" traditions were added to Roman Catholic theology &endash;

* Making the sign of the cross 300
* Prayer directed to Mary, dead saints and angels, about 600
* The Rosary, mechanical praying with beads, invented by Peter the Hermit 1090
* Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, proclaimed by pope Pius IX 1854
* Assumption of the Virgin Mary (bodily ascension into heaven shortly after her death),
* Mary proclaimed Mother of the Church, by pope Paul VI 1965

It is a Catholic tradition. Protestants follow the Bible and do not use symbolism except the bread and the cup of communion, and baptism, the only two symbols given in the Bible.

Because we dont use symbols or images in our worship. It is about our personal relationship with God, and nothing else is required.

We do not have to say a certain amount of prayers, or tithe a certain amount of money or go to a certain amount of church services, or even confess our sins a certain amount of times to be saved.

The only requirement of a Christian is to accept the gift that Jesus gave and to live our lives according to the NT.

Because, Sweetheart, it is a Catholic thing. And, what does "protestant" mean???= protest catholicism. If the absents of 'the sing of the cross' bothers you, you should look at the 'radical reformers', like Baptist. There is a lot of 'stuff' they don't do.

because nobody SAYS the sign of the cross. The sign of the cross is an action.

The reason you do it is because you copied other people from since you were young.
