People were not buying into the scare tactics. This presented an opportunity for a new leader to get some power. Jesus taught that sacrifice isn't needed anymore, and taught that God loves all of the humans. In short, Jesus was a radical. People were ready for new ideas.

Well, it certainly didn't change for the better. Instead of just calling them demonic unbelievers, Christians (and their God) nowadays claim everyone else but them will burn in Hell for all eternity.

I like how the poster below me says that "Jesus taught that sacrifice was no longer needed" and "God loves all humans". I find this highly ironic since the theme of the New Testament is the sacrifice of Jesus to God so that God could forgive all those humans' sins.

All unbelievers were demons? Pardon me if I dont understand what demonize means. My bad.

The reason the OT and NT are different is because Jesus paid the ultimate and final sacrifice and also, we were given the Holy Spirit to guide us. Jesus came so that all might be saved.

It has to do with the evolution of the mind of man as it moves further and further away from the state of the animal. What became man was always intended to evolve into man. The mind, the consciousness of man, has evolved rather rapidly in the last 6000 years. The stages that it went through involved some rather harsh conditions. Finally though we are approaching the state where we can drop the illusion of separateness and accept that we are all one and sourced from the same Creator. Soon (relatively)we will find friends everywhere we go.

If one does not believe in God or Christ and the new testament, then they are judged by the laws of the old. Christ did not do away with the ten commandments. Not one jot or tittle.. they still stand. Sin is still sin, and all have sinned. There are none that are right before God without the covenant made by Jesus Christ.

The OT represents the OLD COVENENT, and in the NT, God does away with the old and made a NEW COVENENT with His people.

It's like Jehovah totally bitched out when he had a kid, first it's "eye for an eye", then it's "turn the other cheek".
