I've been on two dates with a guy. We've been talking on the phone for over a month. He seems very nice. After the second date, he wrote to me and said that he thinks we should go our seperate paths because he didn't feel the "spark" that he thinks he should feel. After two dates? Don't you need more to feel a spark? Or is he just looking for something more along the lines of lust rather than love? We're both older (40's) and are past the teenage/starry eyed/head in the clouds phase of our lives. Any thoughts??

Here's a twist... he just called me and asked me to forgive him and that he wants to continue seeing each other. He said he was afraid because he's never met anyone who meshed so easily with him. Any additional thoughts now?

He's a basket case and if you want to invest the time in the cat and mouse game by all means continue seeing him. However if you're really to much of an adult to deal with the childish games I'd leave him right where he is.

I am only 32 and just getting back into the dating scene. But I do know that its possible to know if you have sparks with a person right off, you dont have to wait for a second date or more. Some people can just tell right off, others, it takes a little while.

Forget about him! Be glad that you found out early on before you got too involved. I hate to say this, but honestly I think there is probably someone else in the picture. If he could decide that after only 2 dates then I think he had another girl in the wings. Be glad it didn't go further.

Leave him alone. He was nice enough to be straight up with you, we all know when we are attracted to someone. He sounds like a nice gut don't push it with him..And we are never to old to feel starry eyed when it is the right person. Atleast he dint waste your time and mislead you.

Looks like he don't want to continue seeing you. May be he is afraid to commit relationship with you. Did he sleep with you yet?

I think this guy is joking you around he expects to just walk in and out of your life as he pleases. You need to kick him to the kurd just like he did you.

Sometimes events in life don't happen...juices don't start to flow...bulges don't start to grow...and the chemistry just isn't there. Waiting through more ho-hum dates will not change it.
