Thats a pretty vague question tbh! I take it you haven't given it much thought. If that's the case, maybe you shouldn't be getting one yet. Tattoos, for most people, are a personal statement. A permanent work of art worn on the skin. Whether other people see it/like it or not is irrelevant! Do some research. Be creative. Find something that's important to you and not just something you think is "pretty" or "cool" because 20 years from now, you probably won't be thinking that! And beyond that, please please please find a talented, reputable tattoo artist that works in sterile conditions! In fact, go to a couple local tattoo shops and ask questions, find an artist you are comfortable with and give him/her some ideas and see what you can come up with together.

I do know what I'm talking about, I currently have 4 tattoos, and going back for phase 3 in a couple days for my most recent one...a fairly large backpiece. I've waited 10 years for this design to come to fruition...it is definately worth the wait!

Also, remember...

Good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good!
It's all about the pain...the ink and the jewelry are just souveniers!

It is YOUR tattoo, you should pick it out. It should be something that is meaningful to you, something that you wont mind having on your body 50 years from now. Be creative! Once you get a few ideas, take them to an artist and they can help draw something up for you.

I personally think that traditional Japanese style is the most impressive for a backpiece.

Google "Japanese backpiece tattoo picture" and you will see what I mean.

i agree with trinity.

don't just chose something off the wall (aka flash). you shouldn't just get a tattoo for the sake of getting it - it should be an image or an idea that makes you say "wow, i need that on my body!".
