Why don't we call it what it is.. its not the "religion of peace" like they claim it is.. after all, if you don't subscribe to their religion, then they blow you to pieces.. shouldn't we call it the "religion of pieces" then?

Well Don (answer #1)
Since I don't see Christians strapping bombs to themselves, killing themselves, innoccent women, children, civilians.. since I don't see them murderously and cowardly killing in that manner.. attacking buildings and people instead of military targets like a waring party should.. I'm talking specifically about the so called "religion of peace" Islam .. NOT christianity!

Thats ascenine. "They" and "we" are simply pronouns to elaborate who you are talking about. WE being anyone who isn't islamic. THEY being those that are. Using pronouns is hardly a bad thing, nor is it what is causing a large population of Islamic society to KILL needlessly for THEIR religion. I don't hate THEIR religion, however, I DO hate what THEY do in the name of it. So how am I spreading hatred when THEY are the ones doing the killing and maiming.. cowardly and pathetically by killing completely innocent civilians I might ad. Until someone comes out and publically condemns their actions withing THEIR own communit, there is nothing WE can do but ask why THEY wrongly call themselves the "religion of peace".

The arguement isn't weather terrorism and attrocities happen elsewhere.. its about the specific kind and the specific faction of people that are committing them. Of course I know about other horrendous acts in the history of humans, I'm not asking about that or speaking of it because thats not what this is about.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
However, maybe you should read your history books. Muslims, led by Muhammed.. spread their religion through terror and coersion.. through death and mahem.. just like many of them are doing now.. just stating that SOME of them have very few writings that innacurately depict history, doesnt make them true.
AND..
the one person that gave birth 'terrorism' as we know it today.. was non other than Yassir Arrafat. He revolutionized taking innocents hostage, killing civilians, school bus bombings, martyrdom.. ect ect.
The people responsible for the many deaths in Iraq are terrorists that kill themselves and their brothren.. sickening

I didn't flag it, I starred it. While I don't think Islamic believers are all terrorists, I see a great reluctance of moderate Islamic leaders to speak against the violence of terrorist attacks and suicide bombers. I know there are moderates in the Islamic community, but they need to bury their fear and speak out against the extremists. We who are not Islamic live with the threat of violence from the Islamic extremists. They were even planning on capturing and beheading an Islamic British soldier. Where are the voices of reason in the Islamic community to publicly put their lives at risk and show us that Islam is really a religion of peace? They have support for that position in the Koran. They can cite chapter and verse. All I hear is the hatred of Christians toward the Islamics extremists, but I don't hear the respected members of Islam speak out against violence.

What are you referring to? Buddhism? Christianity? Islam? Juddaism?
All major religions try to look their best for other peoples, but the fact is that most people look to stereotypes for their answers.
For Example: When I tell people here on Y!A that I am a Muslim, I can guarantee the image that pops into 99% of their heads is a dark man with a bomb strapped to his chest while inside a Jewish building, or on a bus. This could seriously not be farther from the truth. I am actually a part-Italian, part-Irish former Catholic.

You should not even refer to it as a religion, unless it's the made-up-by-one-man religion, just like scientology.
May God Bless you.

To be precise, the mind set of "WE" and "THEY" is all what is responsible for clash in the society.
sooner you [we] come out of it, better it would be, for peaceful living on this planet.
Therefore plz do not encourage it.
'WE & THEY' both are creation of God. Why dont you do something to synchronise the views of all communities ? At least you will be doing some thing constructive for the society.
If your claim that 'THEY' are following the 'religion of pieces' which is far beyond truth, YOU [we]are not less responsible for spreading hatred & violence.
It will be good for all of us if we have constructive debate on each & every aspect based on the facts & figures, history and logic.
And your question does not fullfil the above requirements.
ADDITONAL NOTES;
It is absolutely wrong to say that Muslims do not condemn the acts of terrorism. You can not find a single Muslim on YAHOO who did not condemn it. Muslims all over the world condemn terrorism but its a pity they do not get space in your MEDIA.And you always overlook it if they find some.
It absolutely a lie that Muslim kills non-believers to force them to convert to their faith. I have with me, some historians views about Islam which prove you wrong.
" No amount of coercion could possibly force a whole nation to
abandon its traditional faith with so little resistance and accept
that of the conqueror with such surprising alacrity as did the
Persians over the vast territory from the Tigris to the Oxus.
The ancient faith was decayed. It no longer satisfied the spiritual
requirement of a cultured people."--[The Historic Role of Islam,
by M.N.Roy,pg-47,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]
" It is altogether a misconception that the Arabian progress was
due to the 'sword' alone.THE SWORD MAY CHANGE AN
ACKNOWLEDGED NATIONAL CREED, BUT IT CAN NOT EFFECT THE CONSCIENCES OF MEN."--[ [The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy,pg-49,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]
"We have never heard about any attempt to compel Non-Muslim
parties to adopt Islam or about any organized persecution aiming
at exterminating Christianity. If the Caliphs had chosen one of these plans, they would have wiped out Christianity as easily as what happened to Islam during the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella in Spain; by the same method which Louis XIV followed to make Protestantism a creed whose followers were to be SENTENCED TO DEATH; or with the same ease of keeping the Jews away from Britain for a period of three hundred fifty years."
(Thomas Arnold in 'The Call to Islam.')
"Despite the growth of antagonism, Moslem (Muslim) rulers
seldom made their Christian subjects suffer for the Crusades.
When the Saracens finally resumed the full control of Palestine
the Christians were given their former status as dhimmis.
The Coptic Church, too had little cause for complaint under
Saladin's (Salahuddin) strong government, and during the time
of the earlier Mameluke sultans who succeeded him the Copts
experienced more enlightened justice than they had hitherto known.
The only effect of the Crusaders upon Egyptian Christians was to keep them for a while from pilgrimage to Jerusalem, for as long as the Frank were in charge heretics were forbidden access to the shrines. Not until the Moslem victories could they enjoy their rights as Christians."
(James Addison in 'The Christian Approach to the Moslem')
""""""""""""""""" ON THE OTHER HAND....."""""""""""""""""
" Charles only spared the lives of those Saracens[Muslims] who consented to be baptised, the rest he put to the sword."--[History of Charles the Great and Orlando, by Turpin, Vol-I, ch-ii, pg-5]
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." Luke 19:27
** Millions of innocet Jews were killed in Germany by a non-muslim.
**Millions of innocent people were killed in Hiroshima & Nagasaki by a non-muslim country.
**Millions of people were killed during WW I & II fought amongst the non-muslim countries.
