You know, if they would stop reading from their own Cathecism, and start reading Gods Word, they would find that Paul stated that if you are able to be celibate and do the work of God, then great, but if you "burn", meaning if you have a strong need to fulfill yourself sexually, then you should marry.
If a Church is going to state that they are believers of Jesus Christ, then at very least they should follow His Word. No offense intended to the Pope or to anyone else, but the Pope is not Christ, and so the Pope's word has very little importance, and zero importance when it comes to the Word of God.
p.s. maybe priests became priests in the first place because they were gay, and wanted to hide the fact. I mean the ones who have committed these crimes, of course. Years ago, you didn't "come out of the closet" like they do today, so to keep people from thinking they were gay because they didn't marry, they could join the clergy and then it wouldn't seem weird that they didn't marry. Just a thought in passing.

The Church has done her laundry, all the bad priests are in jail. Strict reforms have been put in place so that never happens again. Study after study shows that Protestant ministers have more scandals than priests, and I have yet to see a Protestant leader meet abuse victims face to face the way our beloved Pope has. In New York City, an average of ONE CHILD PER DAY gets raped by a public school teacher and they get protected by the teachers unions. So it's not the victims that matter, its the identity of the accused. Welcome to the witch hunt of the Third Millenium.

I think that the priest sex scandals makes better TV than the plumber sex scandals or the bus driver sex scandals, and that's why we hear about them more often.

Remember that the TV news is in the business of having you stay in your seat during the commercials. That mission is much more important than any information they may supply.

I think it's pretty disgusting. Even if preists were allowed to marry, the molesting wouldn't stop. Do you think seemingly straight married men don't molest children? Watch Dateline and then get back to me.

The desire has to already be there. This isn't a religious issue. These predators use their position of power to abuse children. They seek these positions out. Just like the ones that coach little league or become teachers. They purposely choose these positions to gain trust from children. They're sick and need to be locked up for a very long time.

On the one hand they are no different than doctor sex scandals, lawyer sex scandals, politician sex scandals, or wal mart cashier sex scandals. A sex scandal is a sex scandal.
On the other hand one who preaches and condemns other people for engaging in sexual activities that are illegal or socially unaccepted (preachers who tell people they are going to hell) would seem to be very hypocritical when involved in the same activity themselves.

The only reason preists don't marry was because back in the 12th century, priests would pass the church to their sons and they would become like royalty. Now they say that Jesus didn't marry and that having a wife and family would take time away from the parishiners.

There is the simpliest answer.....The church does not produce pedophiles anymore than the boy scouts/girl guides did or the coaching profession did or any other or organization. The pedofiles first find the organizations that give them unfettered access to children. Can we say that the internet (that we are all using right now) produces pedofiles or is it just a tool they use, like the church.

Who in their right mind would ask someone to abstain from sex??? Only someone who wanted all the guys/gals for themselves. That's rotten!
Why do we give these strange people any respect in the first place? Sex is natural and one of life's best pleasures amongst consenting adults.
