where can I get a cd-rom installing program for a hp with xpProfessional?

I have a hp pavilion dv5000 with windows xp, but when I open My Computer there is no CD-ROM icon & I had this problem other time, but I forgot how I installed it

just go to control panel from the start menu and then click on add hardware, then insert the drive cd you got with the cd and follow the tips that follows
