powershot is american - full 12 month warranty
ixus is from Europe - 3 month warranty
the a710is is a better camera

Correct - Canon seems to market the same camera under slightly different names in the different geographies. For instance, the Digital Rebel XTi in the US is known as the 400D in Europe.
