I recently joined a web site that uses (mostly) wmv files and can be played on wmp, which I have. Some of the files are animations and some are presentations. When I first clicked on a presentation, I needed to download something. I got Microsoft Office Powerpoint Viewer 2003. It is only a viewer.

I would like to be able to use a program that allows me to create my own presentations.

I will not be choosing any answers from this question, because asking the same question twice was a complete mistake.

You have to either:
a) Purchase the Microsoft Office Suite (includes Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) ($$$)
b) Only Purchase PowerPoint. ($$$)
c) Download Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org and use their presentation software (Free). I believe that you can save presentations in Open Office and they can be opened by others using PowerPoint.

You have some options...

1. Purchase Office 2007 (any of the editions besides Office 2007 Basic)
2. Purchase Office 2003
3. Purchase Office XP
4. Or just purchase PowerPoint separately, but that really is not the best way to go for the money.

Go to Nextag.com and search for each of the above products for price comparison

You then need to buy Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. Can buy at Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, Staples, etc. Costs $149.00. Includes PowerPoint along with Word, Excel, Outlook, and so on. You can also just buy PowerPoint, but that costs $109.00, so you might as well get the whole thing.

Well, since it is Powerpoint and owned by Microsoft, you have two options:

1) Go out and buy it.

2) Download a copy or make some other illegal copy of it and install it.

I wouldn't recommend #2 above.

You could also try Impress - part of Open Office's suite of applications. It is free.

YOu don't say what version, but it will be the same. You should go into Master view, slide master and from there, insert, picture from file and double click on the file icon when you find it. Resize as appropriate to fill the slide, remembering to do it from corner so it stays in proportion, right button of mouse, send to back ,but depending on colouring, you may need to make it less bright, i.e. change transparency in order that your text and other objects are legible over it. By setting up your master, all other slides conform to it. If however you don't want the same picture on all slides, just insert it on whichever slide you want. You can also if you don't want to use the master, right click on a slide, or on the master (not in a placeholder) down to background, click on picture, navigate to where it is and bring it in that way.
