Im currently paying child support and the mother and child are on state assistance. Last year that state took all of my refund. Will this happen every year?

I would contact the state Department of Revenue (or Tax department) for the state in question and ask them. Then, you will have the answer to your question.

If not them, then the Department of Social Services.

-- HOW TO BEAT THEM--

Have the company you work for withhold less taxes, then you will get a near zero refund or even no refund.

As long as they're on state assistance and you're not current on your child support. When a parent goes on state assistance they are required to identify the other parent. The state will seek reimursement of the assitance payments from the non-custodial parent.

You may wish to consult with an attorney if you are current on your child support.

If you are in arrears with your child support, then yes your Federal and State refunds will be offset to Financial Management Services until the arrears are paid in full.
Contact FMS at 1-800-304–3107.
