put his butt on people? He stands in front of you, looks back, and backs up until his butt is touching you. I have not seen this before....any ideas?

A dog's anus contains sacs that have liquid in them (if you need to run to the toilet to hurl, I'll wait....). When you see a dog dragging his butt, it's usually because those sacs need to be emptied :-X, but sometimes it's a territorial thing. Our dog will do that or wipe his feet on the ground to "mark" his territory sometimes, so perhaps your dog is doing this too. Males are notorious for this (ba-dum-BUM!).

Dogs have anal gland around their bottom. This is how they mark their territory. Sometimes the glands can get stopped up ( have you ever seen a dog scoot around on his butt) I have a dachsund whos gland get impacted and he has to go to the vet

My dog does that, too and I'm not sure why. I always attributed it to a sign of trust affection. When my dog does that, I usually give his thighs a nice petting which makes her really happy.

LOL....just a silly quirk.....ignore him, turn around and walk away, or make him sit...then give him a rub and eventually he will quit.
