I have really natural...kinky black hair. My fiance is Korean and doesn't really like the cornrolls and braids and all of that biz...and we both love my hair when it's straightened or twisted half way back. The problem is, it takes me an hour to straighten my hair and then one side is always more straight than the other and still feels coarse. Is there any kind of ocnditioner or shampoo or oil or SOMETHING that I can put in my hair to help it straighten easier and stay straight longer? it's a pain in the butt but I hate it when it's not straight...it just takes too long and now that i have a baby i don't have the time.

Thermal Reconditioning This is a permanent reforming of the structure of hair, done with the same chemical solution as used in perms, but with a flat iron instead of perming rods. Thermal reconditioning is better for wavy hair rather than kinky or curly hair, which will show a curly root too quickly. Results last six to ten months, and then only hair regrowth needs to be thermally reconditioned.

Well, you could always try a relaxer BUT there is no reversing that. You will have to wait for the relaxer to grow out completely before you can go back to natural. As someone else stated, you went natural for a reason. Your fiance knew you had natural hair to start, right? I would suggest you buy a product that will soften your hair and accentuate your coils (tight spiral curls). Try Carol's Daughter products. They are wonderful for natural hair. They help to keep it manageable and beautiful, as well as healthy, which is most important. Once you find the right combination for your hair type, you will be very satisfied. Carol's Daughter has FANTASTIC products and you should give it a try. Good Luck!

Visit your local Sally Beauty Suplly store. The store clerks are very knowledgable & can help you find something that works. I would try the tea tree oil hair conditioning packet.... use one once a week. Then try to find smoothing creams to help you straighten your hair. I have use straightening shampoos & conditioners to try to help before I blow dry it but I have not found them to work very well. If you don't have Sally's stores in your area I would talk to your hair dresser she can help you find something that works. ALSO...

BIG TIP!!!

Buy LARGE Hair Rollers Put them in right after you wash your hair & just leave them on as long as you can. Use a hair dryer to help your hair dry while its in the rollers. Then when your babyis sleeping & you have some time...roll them out & blow dry straight with a big round brush, hair dryer & straightening iron.

GOOD LUCK!!! ;-) & Congrats on your new baby!

you went natural for a reason. and the reason had to be because it made you happy and your hair healthy. it is a pain working with natural hair, but you have to learn to love and embrace it. you hate when your hair is not straight? whats the purpose of being natural? if you would rather have straight hair...you know that you could always perm it. otherwise.....if you want to just press it....try using hair wax....just a little....you dont want to be too oily....but you know that it wont last a long time...especially in heat and humidity. or have it professionally done. there pressing methods...usually last longer....

i say embrace your natural hair...and visit nappurality.com....you may find other styles that you and your husband will both love and enjoy....also other hair tips!

if you get a relaxer from a salon you wont have to straighten it, saves time by just having them do it once but it is permanent and will last for a few months so be sure that you would want it straight for that entire time.
