Well, you say that because you were born in this modern world of ours, when technology is the queen, and whoever who controls it is the king. But think back, before World War I, and before Orville and Wilbur Wright could make the first flight. Do you think people before that didnt live?
Well yes, I'm not contradicting technology advances, airplanes have become a great mean of transportation (and it's the world's safest and quickest mean), but they have also become a threat in war conflicts, think about 9/11, or Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or Pearl Harbor, for example.
I'm not saying the world would be a safest place without airplanes, but...well, they have caused many sufferings too, so... you think about the pros and the cons...I cant help you with that, everybody has an opinion.

A lot more local -- like in days gone by to a degree. It depends if cars and trucks still exist in his equation. Business could not really afford to have key members driving for days just for a meeting and as for international business well, it takes a ship 30 days to arrive on the other side of the globe. This would be a much different world indeed.

A step backwards into yesteryears. What if there were no vehicles to travel across the country? What if we had to resort back to horse and buggy?

Almost like asking the question to the generations that only know what it is like with gadgets and computers. Like asking the youth about how to play "kick the can", how to use their imagination in creating fun things to do outside with their friends.

Life would be so much better in many ways. It sure would bring the family back together the way it used to be.

Start addressing us a bit less like a frustrated parent and perhaps you'll get some responses.

Now, if you've calmed down - people would live closer to their friends, we'd find ways of holidaying in our home countries, and we'd enjoy travelling by sea a lot more than travelling by air, if we only tried it. Perhaps we'd take more time out. That would be nice. And the planet wouldn't be coming to the boil quite so soon.

I love airplanes, I grew up going to airshows! I need 'em!
But the world would be alot quieter without the ever-present drone of jet engines.

We would use helecoptors until somebody invents (again?) the airplane o.O.

On a more serious note: No air mail, no mass transit, no cargo transporting. It would seriously prove to be in impliment to global economy.

Furthermore, this isn't quite the right area for your question.

Our method of travel would be longer and the rapid delivery services like Fedex would take longer. Why is this a religious or spiritual question?

It'd take a few more days to get across the ocean, but no huge hassel. Just make sure to plan ahead.

No difference, only a fast way to travel.
The proponents of global warming should answer this question.

We would still have the world trade center for one thing.
