If his temp is 101, he's normal. Take him to the vet and have him checked out. If he is lethargic, has diahrrea, vomiting, etc...get him to the vet ASAP

First, how do you know his temp his high? How was it taken? Rectally is the only accurate way in dogs, anything above 103 is considered a fever. Fever is typically the body's way of fighting off in infection, which means he will probably need antibiotics for whatever is wrong. The fever wont go away until the reason for it has. If the temp is above 104.5 you are getting into a danger zone which could lead to seizures, brain damage and organ failure.

DO NOT use over the counter fever reducing medications, Tylenol, Advil, Motrin etc. These are very toxic to animals liver and kidneys

A dogs temperature usually runs from 100-102. That is normal for them. (101 is ideal) He may have an internal infection somewhere. Keep an eye on him and make sure he has constant access to water. If he starts to become lethargic or if he is not eating, then he needs to see the vet. Hopefully, it's just a virus and it will run it's course.

Seems like you are getting all the right answers. Take him to a vet. If you took his temperature and it is over 102, why are you asking us for help...take him to a vet. Just like you would take a child to a doctor, something is wrong. I hope you are on your way right now! It has been a few hours since you asked this question!
