Whoa, Everyone answered New York Harbour. it's not really New York. It's called Upper New York Harbour. Everything north of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is called Upper New York Harbour. And anything south of teh VNB i think you would know !
When the statue was instolled on teh Island it was called Verrazano Bay. At the time Everything was Verrazano because of teh sailor. Verrazano Bridge,Verrazano Bay,Verrazano Point(Now Wadworth pt.)

The whole area is called New York harbor. However, both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are really in the harbor of Jersey City, New Jersey. By a court decision, however, they are part of the state of New York.
