You are only feeling so bad because you have been away from regular exercise for some time. By the sounds of it, you are also a little older than the last time you practised martial arts..magnifying the strain that will be set upon your body.

For a temporary soloution get 'winter green' or 'deep heat' bath oils. Soak yourself in HOT water with the oils, it really relieves your muscles and joints.
For the long term, try taking up yoga, even if its once every 2 weeks. Yoga is a great way to keep your body flexible and it is a great stress reliever.

You are feeling all the aches and pains because you haven't been this active or into fitness for a long time as you say. You will get used to it. Go for your next training session also. Remember one thing, stretch very well before you begin one and when you finish, stretch again. The stretching prior helps warm up the body and make your joints more workable and the body supple. The stretching later helps cool down and keep the aches to a minimum. A full body stretch is necessary. It is an absolute must to stretch, no matter what workout/exercise you undertake. Remember to take supplement Vitamin pills. Where you are, if you gets the One-a-day multi-vits for men, please do get it and have one everyday. You will be fine. Take care :-)

Try aspirin, it has worked for me in relieving sore muscles for overdoing it. I believe it has something to do with it helping the flow of the blood and this takes oxygen to the muscles, which the lack of is what caused the pain in the first place. Also try to gently massage the painful areas, yes, this will hurt at first but it will make it better (helps get rid of the lactic acid). To make it hurt less time, you should stretch well before and after and also heat right after the exercise, such as going into a sauna or just taking a hot shower helps.

I would say this is probably normal after not having exercised in so long. I wasn't able to work out rigorously for about a year after rotator cuff surgery, and after my shoulder was rehabbed to the point where I felt like I could work out again, I was so sore the next couple days after that first workout that I almost considered going to a doctor. I found a couple things that help. First of all, stretch your muscles a couple times a day. My muscles were really tight when they were sore, and though stretching hurt somewhat, I generally felt better after stretching. Also, I read in a recent Men's Health that you can reduce soreness in the days following a workout by doing light body-weight exercises, like body-weight squats, pushups, etc. The idea is to not strain yourself though.

Flexing the muscles. Like when bodybuilders pose in the mirror. That squeezes the lactic acid from the muscle tissue. Flex hard and hold for 3- 5 sec. Do this a few times and then stretch. You will still be sore but, nowhere near what you have described. Congrats on getting back into it!

You need to see a doctor to find out if there's a problem. If not, you should slowly build up your strength and endurance. you should not hurt after a session. pain is a sign there's something wrong. don't cause more damage by doing more than your body can handle.

stretch every painful muscle in the opposite direction of its normal action, hot wet packs also help to relax the muscles. before the next training session make sure you warm up. also it will help if you take a mild pain killer before your session. dont overdo the training at one time. upgrade slowly and you will be very fit again.
