My mom says she has a nervous stomach, and we did just go on a roadtrip. But yesterday she barely got off the couch until my boyfriend got home from work. Is it possible that she was depressed?

She's been to the vet a lot lately, she has a nervous stomach and allergies. Today she seems ok, and actually ate her food...

I have a chihuahua-Rat terrier mix who is allergic.
I assume your rat is normally more active and perhaps she is just plumb worn out. If you were away she could have been worried and stressed you were gone. If you took her with you... she could have been excited and stimulated... now she could be recuperating. They are such resilient dogs I wouldn't worry. Why not cuddle her and use the time to get some calm loving in?

Things which might clue you in that something is wrong: check her eyes out and ensure they are clear and alert (as opposed to the druggish look). Behind her head is what we call "the scruff" ~ pull that gently away from her body and notice if it returns to its original position... we're looking for dehydration. If it stays puffed away from her body... she needs more water. If not.. she's fine.

Its been awhile since you posted so I hope all is well. Everyone takes a little bit of time to recuperate from a trip, even rats.

:o)

Being lethargic is often a sign of illness, you should have your vet check her out to make sure shes ok.
