Where can you find the happiest society in the world? When I say happy I don't only mean superficially happy and joyful, but also happy in the soul, ie. content and living without fear and anger.

Definately from my experiences Thailand, very peaceful people, although very capable as well. I travelled the world saw 15 different coutries in both the 1st & 3rd worlds, but the Thais were lovely ! They can be so poor yet so happy and content, its still called the Kingdom of Thailand and on a scale of 1-5 would be a 5 for south east asia, Vietnam a 3 and Cambodia a 1. I think because its a deeply Buddhist nation they don't believe in violence although Muay Thai Boxing is their national sport. Lovely peaceful content people, I'm from Australia and can say their way different to Islamic Indonesia ! It'll be such a shame if they lose whats great about them.
