I have a blind date this week that a family member is setting me up with and I'm thinking what would be a good thing to do on this date. I definitely don't want it to be a dinner date, because those last too long and I want to be able to end it short if I'm not really into the person. I was thinking that a bar may be good, as long as they're not playing music so loud that we won't be able to hear each other speak. I also don't want us to go to the movies, since the whole point of a first date is to get to know each other, and that's kind of hard to do while staring at the movie screen for 2 hours. Please, I need advice!

Go to a sporting event. Even if you don't like the sport, the crowd is always "entertaining' and its something that the both you can observe and together without having to participate. There are enough time outs, intermissions and "down time" for the two of you to get to know one another. Pro sports tickets can be pricy but college basketball, hockey is about $10.00 each and its a very affordable date.
When the game is over, you two can go for a quick dinner or just some burgers at a place like "Chilli's".
Give it a whirl.

Go get a cup of coffee. If you're not into coffee, get hot Chocolate. Noone doesn't like hot chocolate (except my ex, but whatever). If that works out, then suggest that you two go bowling or something. It's too cold for mini golf. Try not to bring alcohol into a situation when you're meeting someone, because you want to make a good first impression, and alcohol may inhibit that.

A drink is a great idea. It can be long or short and the liquor will help you relax. Hotel bars are good places for nice atmosphere and soft music.

First meet the person where you want to go. A nice quite place to talk with him. Go to a museum or art show. Either place gives you the chance to get to know one another.

Go on a picnic or out for lunch. Lunch doesn't last too long and if you hit it off you can go from there. You could go bowling and have a few laughs. Take care Heather

Why don't you just go to a park for a walk or a local zoo or museum.Go ice skating (if possible). Shop together in all those stores you never manage to get to!

try something fun and exciting. a daytime date, in the park or horseback riding... think of something you enjoy and make it in to a date... that way if your not happy with him your doing somthing you like and its during the day you still have time to go out that night without him..

go to a sports game like basketball, baseball, or football. those seem to be fun and you dont have to spend the whole time talking you can watch the game to. Or go to this fun restaurant place called dave and busters you can eat and play arcade games. or go to a casino.

You don't want to take the time to get dinner, but you want to be able to talk and get to know him? Really contradictory. Why are you even putting on a front and going on the date if you don't want to? Typical female...
