Do not worry people like you and me who has seen only the darker side of life alway feel comfortable while in trouble. So when we find ourselves in a place where there is no emonional pain we feel more insecure and helpless. Do not worry this is very , very normal you should understand that there are times when you will never feel the pain and the life simply goes on. You are not addicted to pain but only your mind is reeling in disbelief. Please believe it . All the best.

Well when your in pain (physical/emotional) theres a chemical in your brain called endorphines/dopamine which is similar than that of which you get from taking opiate based medications. Just like those pain pills are addicting so can pain believe it or not. You have a endorphine addiction. Doesn't it seem that emotional pain can feed on itself..well that's because endorphines/dopamine are being released. They attach to this pain receptors. This is just like the problem where you see people cut themselves. Although that could also be a underlying psychological disorder which attention is wanted. Endorphines are pleasure chemicals that are released to counteract the pain. You would be a good candidate for wellbutrin which works on dopamine. Seems you have a deficiency of dopamine. When pain is induced you release dopamine and endorphines. Your brain needs some assistants to release dopamine. Try welbutrin. Your not as crazy as you think and a physcologist wont help ...you just need some meds to aid your brain in what you are deficent in. You havr a chemical imbalance..I used to think that term was a crock but it is true. Your body is just telling you that it needs more dopamine or endorphines.

trust me..this is not stupid, it is just something that you have to deal with. Yes, it is an addiction and you should talk to someone about it, preferably a therapist, but I would recommend a good friend and/or family member as well for the times that you can not talk to the therapist. Plus it is always better to have people that are behind you supporting you all the way through

As a guess, I'd say that you are more addicted to failing in emotional relationships. You probably expect to fail, and therefore the pain is welcomed as a sign that you have achieved your expectations. A few sessions with a psychiatrist, would help you to straighten out your thinking.

Go and speak to a psychologist(not a psychiatrist) the first one can give prescriptions.
