It yaps persistently between 7 am and 11 pm. I find myself praying for rain because that's the only time there seems to be any peace. It yaps at anything that moves from fresh air, leaves, twigs and birds, to me. Nothing is done to control or train it.
Is there anything I can do? I think it is a nuisance. I have tried the polite way of having a friendly word with the neighbour but if anything it has made matters worse. Any advice? before I do something I may regret.
Don't get me wrong, I am not a dog hater, and I expect them to bark when there is good reason to, but not all day 7 days a week.

Thanks, I thought I was becoming paranoid. There are plenty of other dogs in the neighbourhood, but they only bark as an alarm, or to be let in, short lived and at least you know when there are strangers about, or the postie is on the way.

get in contact with the enviromental health officer. contact your council for details. Keep a diary and they will come and measure the yapping. you have obviously tried the diplomatic way so b*ugger it and go to war!

I'm in the same boat.I love dogs but neighbor has 2 yippy little furballs she puts out to bark anytime we're in the yard and the shrill constant barking is driving us up the wall. You can't hear yourself speak over it.
Going in the backyard is no better as neighbors on the other side have 2 medium sized dogs that bark ferociously at us and have evan tried to climb the fence to get at us.
I went to the mayors office and looked in the ordinance book under nuisances.Barking dogs are in there.Next summer I plan to call the police over the matter as no certain hours are listed. In most places from 10p.m.to 7a.m.are the quiet hours.
Go check it out if no hours are listed then start the ball rolling. After they get enough violation notices they'll do something.

i'm contained in the very similar position with my next door neighbours canines. it truly is outside devoid of nutrition or safeguard frequently and cries/barks in the course of the nighttime. The RSPCA are ineffective - they don't really do something. What i have finished is positioned a be conscious by her door anonymously explaining how stupid and irresponsible/egocentric she is, that i'm sick of it, conserving a log of it and if it retains i am going to submit the log to the RSPCA and the environmental wellness, who can effective as a lot as £5,000. palms crossed this can paintings. If there are countless different neighbours, i ought to indicate doing an identical. and spot if different neighbours sense an identical as you. The extra court docket circumstances the environmental wellness et get, the extra likely they're to do something. in the adventure that they are as egocentric and cruel as this, they gained't favor to threat an outstanding and could provide up the canines to someone who will really safeguard it. EDIT- yet another imagine i'm searching into is sorting out who their landlord is (by land registry). i do not understand in the adventure that they are outright vendors of their living house, yet when no longer then a landlord having a be conscious may be more effective.

I understand your frustration! I love animals too. I had the same problem and went through the police dept. They sent out a vehicle that basically cruised past. They never did anything about it. Eventually they stopped responding. This dog barked non-stop day and night. I tried animal control, I tried to get the owners for not licensing their pet, I tried on misuse of animals (they left it out in the heat with no water all day.) Nothing worked. The lack of sleep began to made me crazy. The people finally moved. What a relief! Good luck, I hope you have quicker results.

Most communities have nuissance laws on this type of thing. Usually, it's okay for dogs to bark between the hours of 7 am and 10 or 11 pm, but there is usually something that references excessive noise (i.e. barking). The best thing you can do is to contact your local law enforcement and lodge a complaint.

It must really grate on your nerves, I feel your pain, if you make a formal complaint they will require a diary of when it's barking and when you produce that then they'll send their man from the council with his little noise level reading machine and then serve your neighbour with an antisocial notice, then she will have to ensure it shuts up. So start now by noting down times of barking, and try and get additional audio or video evidence. You could also go to your doctor and complain of bad nerves or something. Basically gather as much evidence as you can to put forward as your case.

Talk to the police. There may be a noise ordinance for your area AND if you have an H.O.A. (Home Owner's Association) you can bring up the subject at one of their meetings. They have the ability to give fines/tickets to offenders also.
A noise ordinance should consist of a time frame where the dog should not be allowed to bark and a duration.
Good Luck

At least you get from 11pm off, my neighbours have a cat flap so the little rats can run out and bark all night.

write the neighbour a polite letter saying this is driving you crazy and could she please stop it from yapping,if they then do nothing keep a record of times, etc, and contact your local council, now whilst I have dogs this too would drive me mad,
is it locked outside all the time, perhaps contact rspca as well,so as they go round and give her a talking too,it might put the wind up her kilt enough for her to do something about it,
good luck

Be glad its not a baby crying from before 7 in the morning. I think they put it out in the garden when it cries. There should be some sort of citizens advice service in your area who can advise you of the correct procedure to follow.
